I tend to just use web-Gmail, nowadays.
I use iOS mail, but on desktops, just the web version.

Nah.. This is usual MS standards. Get used to something, then they randomly take it away...
They'll offer it "as a good will gesture" on the WinApp Store, soon enough. .. And give it a price tag, just because.

I'd grab that Thunderbird thing, or something, if you really need desktop mail.
