Hi Cower

30th March 2018

Mostly well. Been primarily occupied by work, but I did build a Kubernetes cluster on my desk while I was on vacation.
But yeah, mostly work, which drives me to crawl under my desk:

Didn’t know socoder emails told me about how the site has become sentient and is stealing ideas but I appreciate its honesty.

What Have You Done - Sept 2016

30th September 2016

Eh, I really didn't start drinking until I was about 24. Turns out I'm just a boring adult.
And speaking of age, I feel old whenever someone talks about Doom or current programming practices. I didn't even start programming until around 2003 -*snip*

What Have You Done - Sept 2016

29th September 2016

Ups
What did you get done this Month?
[*] Aside from stuff after my vacation started, about all I've done prior to that is optimize/reimplement things at work. I just kind of add myself to work projects when it seems like they're not entirely goi*snip*

Weekend Plans?

24th September 2016

Nowhere, Jay. I just occasionally materialize after a year of non-stop work.

Weekend Plans?

24th September 2016

Weekend plans so far are to relax and plot how I'll spend my week off from work. Otherwise, no plans.

TEN : Happy Birthday, SoCoder!

1st September 2016

Happy porpoise day.
I promise I still lurk, all creepy-like (since I don't log in), but mostly I just read the newsletter.

One would certainly hope there are no new books.

Cower's Return

19th September 2015

Tiring. Mostly busy with work, so haven't had much time to do any personal projects before passing out on my futon over the last year or so.

A reboot of my older rainbow-filled live wallpaper. Because yeah.

Java Assistance

11th April 2014

The issue Erebel's having is that Monkey runs game code on a GLSurfaceView's GL thread, which doesn't use a looper. Presumably he's trying to do something UI-related and it's not going according to plan 'cause he didn't realize he was on a separate thread.*snip*

What Have You Done? - March 2014

29th March 2014

Ups
What did you get done this month?
[*]Started learning (Linkage).
[*]Wrote an MD3 -> OBJ file converter in Go, since there are no longer any functioning MD3 importers/exporters for Blender or other modeling programs.
[*]Played a lot of Dark Souls 2*snip*

AntiDroid

27th August 2013

Haha, that’s cute, Android. Tell me ByteBuffer#duplicate returns a buffer with the same byte order as the one it’s a duplicate of, then give me a buffer with a different byte order. Hahahaha, real cute. Asshole.

How Deep is Your Code?

12th June 2013

Windows is basically a nightmare (hope you like Win32) and OS X is fairly simple (create window, create GL view and context, and set up either a displaylink callback or timer). That said, using GLFW 3 for the main three plus mobile platforms works fairly w*snip*

Cower

How Deep is Your Code?

12th June 2013

Because we have to deal with systems where GLX isn't available or is incredibly sucky.

Jayenkai Sucks Because....

12th June 2013

I assume Jay "complains" the same way I do about programming stuff: mostly not seriously and just because I can. I think you just read too much into things (or too little, really).

"New" OpenGL

10th June 2013

So the deal with "new" OpenGL (aka GL 3.2 and up, particularly the core profile) is that it deprecates the entire fixed function pipeline. This also means that a lot of stuff, more than most people realize, is gone. And the kicker is this: it's usually a t*snip*

Cower

Jayenkai Sucks Because....

10th June 2013

I don't see why Jay doing what he enjoys is a problem. The dude's not stupid and programming is always learning something new, so why does he need to learn one thing over another? He clearly doesn't just do the same thing based on the sheer variety of game*snip*

Cower

"New" OpenGL

10th June 2013

Really, most of the effort is just the pain in the neck math code that needs writing (unless you use glm or something). Shaders are simple, you should validate them in testing, check compile and link logs, etc., but the actual process of writing and using *snip*

Re/\\/\\3/\\/\\b3R
