Windows 8 boot times blow 7 out of the water. Which is the reason I made the switch. Once you change some settings to hide all the metro crap and get used to the fact that there is no longer a start button, it really is nicer in my opinion. I was going to *snip*

I attempted to rewrite the code using a Runnable instead of extending the Activity. I also am using runOnUiThread now to run my code on the UI thread. That got rid of the error I was getting, however I'm still not seeing any ad :/
