Yeah, PS3 can play PS2 games, but making another PS2 game would limit the potential of a new game. Remember that the R&C games might not have looked amazing, but they did at least use a heck of a lot of PS2 to run. If they can use just as much PS3 power, they're going to come out with a cracking game.
Surely that's worth the upgrade, right?

Hmmm, maybe. If less people get the game for PS3 cos they don't wanna buy one, d'you think there's a chance they'll make a PS2 version? Thing is, if you can play PS2 games on the PS3, why not make it a PS2 version so it can be played on both consoles?

Well, if the PS3 version takes advantage of the "sixaxis" (not in any way nicked from nintendo) stuff, then the PS2 version would have to be tweaked to work in other ways. It'd be too complex to have that big a difference between the two versions.

Then there's all the extra space they can fit onto a PS3 disc. Do you really want a cut down crappy version, just so that it works on the PS2.

There's really no need.

I suppose you're right... although the fact that R&C was a PS2 only franchise was part of what made it so great. There weren't many different version for different consoles, just the one version, the one release.

And now there's the one release for the PS3..
It's a Sony exclusive franchise, not a PS2.
That's like saying Super Mario World shouldn't be on the SNES, 'cos Super Mario Bros was exclusively made for the NES.

Yeah, Ratchet and Clank 3 was pretty good. I think that the Glactic Rangers were the best characters. Cowards to the core.

'So, err, anyone have any idea how we're supposed to shut off this force-field?'

'Err, H26, why don't you try sticking your finger in the electrical power transformer?'

'Err, you sure that's safe, 22? This thing looks kinda dangerous...'

'Ahh, suck it up, 26, I'm like trained in electical, err... thingy-magigies...'

'OK then, here goes.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!'

'H26. H26, come in please.'

'Erm... H26 has been vapourized sir. But the force field's down!'

'That trooper deserves a medal.'

good ole sony. They should make 2, on that is for the ps3 and has the great graphics, and one for the ps2 that has ok graphics. i myself have never played rachet and clank, but from the looks of it its pretty cool. speaking of the ps3 being annoying, theres going to be a Grand Tourismo game for it that in order to unlock stuff you have to buy it, wich will cost upwards of $400 usd to unlock everything. its pretty stupid if you ask me.

Stuff... Yeah...

I wouldn't recommend it. Most of the best PS1 games have emulation issues, and I daren't guess how bad PS2 ones are.
In all honesty, I would recommend grabbing a cheap second hand PS2 once the prices start dropping.. And the prices WILL drop, now that PS3 has landed.. (Or.. you know.. not landed. parachuted, very very slowly, and away from us lot in Europe.)
