garand,
and others

a whole section is devoted to my heroes of John Romero and John Carmack in the intro chapter of the Hydra book. Who they are and their games of Castle Wolfenstein and Doom and some of their programming techniques.

Another cool book to read is Dungeons and Dreamers: From Geek to Chic. The book is by Brad King and John Borland.
Its about the rise of computer game culture. Very interesting and good read too.
