Yeah, I know. IGN is awful, but sometimes you just have to go there first to get the news.

As for ST - yeah; I'm hoping for the best too... However, I really didn't like Entrprise much at first, but really got into it after a while. Rewatching from the beginning I can;t remember why I didn't like it. I think it was the themetune at first (it included lyrics). Whatever, like moss on a rock, it grew on me!

I lost interest in the whole Star Trek thing after Generations. Kirk dying signalled the end, for me.

And don't get me started on Scott Bakula and Simon ruddy Pegg.

Simon pegg won me over in the last one, even with his dodgy Scottish accent.

Happy coding!

I haven't enjoyed any of the recent ST movies. It's the uncanny valley between trying to be the same, but being completely different from the originals. And yeah, I love Simon Pegg, but not in the ST movies - awful.

I never got into DS9 either.

I hated DS9 - worst of all the Star Treks.

TNG - awesome
TOS - good
Voyager - OK
DS9 - forgettable
Enterprise - toilet. Barely even Star Trek.

Once Wolf joined DS9 it was so much better...

I'm currently playing Star Trek Bridge Crew and it is great, really want some TNG DLC!!!

Enterprise Season 3, though...
if taken as its own show, that's almost TNG good!!

As for Voyager. I did enjoy it. It wasn't as serious as other Treks, I think to distinguish itself from DS9 a bit.
It did get a bit "too" silly.. .. often.. repeatedly...
But it wasn't terrible, and was a nice thing to watch.

I really liked Voyager. Probably because it didn't take itself too seriously - I soooo love the Doctor for this especially. And of course Seven Of Nine

First two episodes are now on NetFlix, and it's typically Trek'y.
Quite action packed, too, but rather slow in places, and certainly as humourless as most previous treks have been.
But I enjoyed it.
It's nowhere near as bad as I thought it might been.

But what awaits?

Meh... Netflix. :/ already pay nigh on a grand a year for TV licence and Sky. Don't need any more subs.

Head into subtitles on Netflix, and you can switch on Klingon...!

@GfK.. you still pay for Sky?! What is this 1998!!?
£8.99 a month for all the NetFlix. Sorted!

Can't get F1 on Netflix. Sure, you can get half the races on C4 or C5 or whichever it is these days, but who the hell wants to see HALF the races?

F1 fans don't want to see half, and neither do people who couldn't give a flying shite about it.

I'm always tempted to get Sky back in for the football... But it is robbery, if I could just get Sky Sports without the other ad invested shite, I'd be on it... But you cannot... Well, you can get Now TV with it on, but it's about £35 a month or something, only £20 if your with Sky... Again, robbery!!!

Haven't bothered to look into it, since.. you know.. I couldn't give a flying fuck about sports..

.. But does NowTV not include some kind of Sports section?
Would be a lot cheaper (I'd've thought) to subscribe to just that, than the whole rip-off of Sky/Cable..

Oh, Dabz replied with that, whilst I was typing.. LOL!

Fucking rip off Sky...

And furthermore... Since I'm on whinge mode about Sky... Take UK Gold, thats a channel I like when I had it in, all the old stuff, like Only Fools and that... But here's what gets me... The UK TV License fee had already paid for these programmes, and in my opinion, they should be available to everyone who pays for a TV license... It's an absolute travesty you have to sign up to a service on top of paying for a license so you can watch the old stuff thats already been paid for by the public.

Yeah, it baffles me that Dave is on Freeview whilst Gold isn't. What's that about?! They're the same thing, aren't they?
Challenge is on Freeview, too. Again, same idea. Repeats of shows that were already on BBC/ITV.

Heck, Dave's even doing it's own shows.
Why's Gold not on Freeview!?!

Bah..
Either way, if you pay for a channel, I'd expect it to be ad-free, and if it isn't then fuck 'em..

Yeah you can buy a Sky Sports doodar with NowTV. But by the time we've done shelling out for a Freesat box (we don't have a TV aerial here, and I wouldn't want to use the Sky box (because youu can) as it'd still list all the 90 billion channels we can no longer watch), NowTV and basically everything we need to get somewhere close to what we have now (we like the film channels too), we're doing a lot of fucking about to what amounts to about a tenner's worth of saving.

So, save a tenner and have all separate shit, or stay as we are and have everything conveniently in one box.

It's a poser...

Why's Gold not on Freeview!?!

Probably involves secret back-handers from Rupert Murdoch. IMHO there are a handful of what I'd call "anchors" that keep people subscribing to Sky. GOLD is one.

Bah.. It's all bollocks!!!
I'm happy with my subscriptions, but even adding that up, it's an alarming amount.

If you count BBC as a subscription (£13'ish a month) + Netflix (£8.99) + Amazon Prime (£7'ish) that's still quite a bit.

But given the amount of content I have available, plus Freeview, plus the ITV, Channel4, Channel5 (if anything is ever on) and UKPlay apps for catchup, I'm quite happy to not be paying for Cable anymore.
... .. Although I am paying Cable for my broadband, so no doubt they're not whinging about it!

The annoying thing is though that Dave is on FreeView, but NOT on FreeSat.

I got rid of Sky a couple of years ago due to their increasingly stupid prices for tv that I never watched and went with FreeSat and I can honestly say I've never missed Sky. Still don't watch much tv, but at least I don't pay for that privilege!

Thinking about it, I don't really watch Dave or Gold any more.

Pretty much everything that's on, I've seen that many times I just don't care any more.

Just looking into this again and rediscovered another problem - you can't record on NowTV. Bit of a problem when several of the F1 races are on at stupid o'clock. I like to watch the whole thing, not just highlights.
