Flash was awesome though, let's not forget that it was a lot of peoples first forays into programming, animation, video and creating vector art.

It brought forth a lot of talent from people who learnt how to use it and shaped a great amount of the videos and games that we all played and enjoyed for years!

Actionscript 2 (back when Macromedia had taken over from it's origins as Futuresplash) was a nice step for people into making games, a lot of people based their initial game making careers from making interactive flash bits and bobs. For sure a lot weren't great but the same could be said of current day making tools such as Unity, Unreal, Gamemaker, etc.

To be fair Flash has had a large impact on the internet, including enabling video sites such as youtube to take off in the mid noughties. Sure a small bunch of malicious users have tarnished it's reputation to a point where even Adobe believes it is beyond repair but for me it was a well loved tool which I still use occasionally today.

TLDR;
Flash was and still is great. Just a shame about the security stuffs of late.

Web / Game Dev, occasionally finishes off coding games also!

Yeah, tbf it was the constant "security updates" that pissed me off, more than the program and features.

Adding to @rychan I didn't have a good opinion about flash, till I joined the newgrounds community a few months back rsk-games.newgrounds.com/.
