It goes down occasionally. Not often, but occasionally.

What is the score with GLBasic now anyway?

I did enjoy using that, but sorta backed off when Gernot decided to leave it to the masses... Does it all still work?

No idea. Haven't touched it since I bought it :/
Paid for it, was happy with it, but then found out it didn't do Audio pitch shifting.
I asked for it as a feature, and was largely ignored other than community members telling me I could pre-pitch my Sounds, which wasn't helpful in the slightest.
I went over to Monkey-X specifically because that issue was there.

I recently asked if it'd been fixed.
People again told me to pre-pitch.. *sigh*

Yep, pretty much everything is exactly as it was. A new update (V15) just went live and has supposedly better compilation speeds and such, but I haven't used it yet. Android Extras has been incorporated into GLBasic now and there have been minor tweaks and fixes recently. A couple of bugs have crept in - one which, affects my current game , is annoying, but by using an older version everythng is OK.

It's pretty long in the tooth nowadays and there don't appear to be many active users on the forums.

Competition is fierce and GLB really does look very stale compared to other languages, but it still offers more functionality and supports more platforms than any other comparable product. It's not perfect and many requests have been ignored for years. But hey, ho - at least Gernot has more staying power than Mark

@Jay - You supposedly can use other sound modules with GLB, which CAN change sound pitch It's not that GLB can;t do it, it's just that it's not something most users have any experience with.

Nah, I've been burnt by add-ons in the past. A number of my games used "Blitz2D+ DLL" and they're all fucked.. and that was solely focussed on Windows.
Imagine the chaos of trying to integrate an add on, whilst ensuring compatibility with all the targets..?!

I refuse to go down that path.

I enjoyed messing with GLB ages ago but was also somewhat pained by that lack of feature xyz. Eventually, and because my target platform was Android, I put AndroidExtras together (me = FiveSprites on GLB forum). That fixed lots of problems with audio - specifically music playback and added pitch shifting. It also allowed me a great deal of flexibility should I need it.

Sadly, dayjob got in the way and I had no time to devote to GLB and AndroidExtras was taken over by another member and became somewhat of a monstrosity - breaking more often than not. And then to hear that GLB was being "open sourced" to certain people and AndroidExtras was being "integrated" into GLB - all spelled disaster if you ask me.

I'd love for GLB to be cleaned up and made into something better. There's certainly a lot of opportunity there and in some ways it was a heck of a lot better than Monkey.

Hopefully the website is a blip and GLB will grow into something better - something that's not tailored to a specific individuals needs.

Yeah, I know what you mean

And yes, I was aware that you created AndroidExtras.
