FFS. God help the force if he had been bitten by a criminal or something more serious, like a mouse, or hamster...

Not sure what happens in the public sector regarding this sort of stuff... But in the private sector, companies dont like to be sued by employees... I've worked for a few firms now in my time, and seen a couple of claims go in, and sure as a bear shits in the woods, the employee gets pushed out (Usually with the excuse of lack of work) because of it... Its not right in obviously some cases, but when a bloke uses a crappy old paint tub (With splits in) to hold brick acid, then spills a bit on his arm, thats his stupid fault, he should got a decent bucket before he started, the thick twat, it would boil my piss if someone sued me because of their own stupidity!

It's rife in Durham County Council, my younger brother worked there in health and safety before he went to Nissan, and claims and dopey health and safety "issues" got the better of him and he left... I always remember he mentioned a woman whacked her toe on a desk leg, she put a claim in, the council paid straight out, even though our Neil's argument against the claim was that she wasnt wearing adequate footware, basically some flimsy things with a couple of straps to keep them on her feet... Not really office attire... But, they still paid out.

Another beauty he told me was a stand in teacher at a school reported a fire hazard to the head teacher, so the head teacher contacted our Neil for advice... Our Neil couldn't believe what he was hearing and went to the school... And this is no word of a lie... The fire hazard that this temp teacher reported was one of these radiators:-

www.designerradiatorsdirect.co.uk/images/classico-main.jpg <--- But old style if you can remember them

With a teddy bear on it!

He had a whinge about this being "a thing", and pretty much wasting his time, if there was any concern, then, she could've just took the teddy bear off the radiator, easy! The temp got a bit arsey with him until he asked her when was the last time she took all her curtains down in the house while she had the heading on?

The public sector is mad... There's no common sense at all, people who really dont deserve it, get it handed to them, the people that really deserve more money, get shafted with such things as parking fines for thousands of pounds!

I couldnt work in the public sector, it'll drive me loopy because that of that sort of shite... And it was the same with my brother!
