And, speaking of BBC, I’m going to assume this is something to do with Raspberry Pi, ’cos those guys kept banging on about BBC Basic a lot, without showing any examples of it.. Linkage (Perhaps something to be wary of, DD?)
What everer "based" it is, let's just hope it don't cost as much as a BBC Micro did back in the day, this could be a good thing at the right price and could really compliment the Raspberry Pi.
|edit| Who knows!, is the Rasperry Pi becomming the new de-facto standard in-school computer?; maybe the next model will come with "BBC BASIC" on a fitted ROM chip just like the BBC Micro had, only this time the students may actually be able to have one at home due to the lower price and actually take their work home with them. |edit|
|edit| The BBC Micro of the 1980's was a very pricey bit of kit as far as I remember, that's why most of us had ZX Spectrums and stuff. |edit|
Aye, compatibility issues was a biggy, back then, but most Basic's seemed vaguely similar.. In fact, most of the "Games for Basic" type books were reusable on a whole bunch of systems. .. as long as they stuck to the simple stuff!
.. having said all that, the site's vanished, and I've no idea what's going on there.
.. wonder if it were actually BBC's to start with?
Because when you were a kid, this shit was awesome!!
Kids had patience..
.. and a deck of cards/comic/magazine on standby.
PS, twitter posts are also now saying that this was a hoax.
fucksocks... |edit| And now we're back to "no, it was just an unfinished preview site".. Gonna have to wait and see wtf it's all about |edit|
|edit| Thought of the day : What the fuck is that loading, and where the hell is it cramming it all!? |edit|
So they know how to stage a hoax but haven't got anywhere near the tallent to make this thing real, well they're the one's who will be wiping egg off their faces.
If there is going to be a MicroLive of the 21'st century, Fred Harris is probably too old and haggered by now, looks like me may have to make do with Adam Hart-Davis. LMAO!
|edit| I used to find Fred Harris' abillity to turn a programming lesson into a comical one quite amusing |edit|
Here's another one of Fred explaining what a loop is, this bloke is just pure genius. If you fast-forward to 7:00, he even uses another old buzzword "listing", that's source code to those of you who weren't around back then.
|edit| And before anyone starts saying "but we already know what a loop is, why are we watching this?", just remember, there was once a time when you didn't know, this man used to make stuff sound so simple. |edit|
