hmmm, that hadn't occurred to me. Given his age, I had presumed it had been a family member who was ill rather then him, which it could still be.
He hasn't visited since that comment, so he has probably been in hospital the whole time. Otherwise even if it's a family member, and it's really serious, I would presume he would have still come home at times (to fetch stuff, eat, shower, sleep, etc), and come online out of habit (even if his mind is elsewhere).
Either way, our thoughts are with him!

As long as we're there for him when he gets back, that's all that matters.
