Socoder -> Off Topic -> phpBB *RANT*

Over on the LittleLever.info site, I lazily installed phpBB because I "thought" it would be easier to deal with.
Since it's a "proper" forum, and has been professionally developed by more than one useless PHP learner/newbie/beginner, (eg, Not Me!) I honestly thought it would be well designed, put together properly, and easy to deal with.

IS IT BOLLOCKS!!?

The admin stuff is utterly crap. To delete a spambot, you need to click about half-a-dozen things, ranging from selecting the user, logging in to do that, logging in again as admin, selecting delete, selecting whether to delete the posts, clicking delete, then having to hunt your way back to the page you were at because it leaves no fucking clues along the way..

Compare that to here, where you click the user, click ban, then click done.
..

If I want to change the logo of Socoder, I need to log in via FTP and upload to just the right spot. One for each theme.
This is because I'm a lazy developer, and coded the site very specifically for myself.

phpBB on the other hand..
Oh, that's right.. It's EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME..
Christ almighty, you'd think "Upload site logo" would be a simple sodding task?
No! Not in the world of phpBB!
Not at all..

GAH..

If I can't wrangle it back to some kind of coherent form, I might just scrap the whole thing (including the 3 or 4 users who've signed up) and shove a blank version of Socoder on there.. I imagine it'll be easier than dealing with that bollocks..

phpBB is pretty unsecure anyways so I thought. Installed it on a server a few years ago, it got hacked pretty quickly, decided, sod that, I'll code my own.

Security through anonymity , whilst it isn't 100% reliable, is a bloody handy thing in these days of plug and play websites IMHO.
