No point wearing a smartwatch if you drive a motor vehicle, in the event of a crash they would probably automatically accuse the driver of using the watch if they were wearing it at the time. Linkage

If you are caught holding, or in contact physically with a phone, whilst driving, then you will be prosecuted even if you we're not actually using it.. Well guess what!, the smartwatch is aparrently covered by the mobile phone laws too, so I guess they will see it the same as holding the device.

It might be a good idea if the manufacturers could put in a feature that stops function, other than time display, when the watch is travelling over a certain speed.

Although I don't care for SmartWatches (or any watches for that matter), this is one issue I never even considered.

I wonder how many people are actually prosecuted each year for using a mobile in a car - it's something you see pretty much every day and the police are never anywhere to be seen.

That's what a friend of mine thought, until he got a tug one day.

Jayenkai Michael Knight would be locked up!!

He sure would in this country.

They give you a choice. Licence endorsements and a fine, or awareness course and a fine. The awareness course costs as much as the fine but that's a lot better than higher insurance costs due to those points being on the licence for a few years.

Sounds like a stiffer set of laws than here in the U.S.

Here some pace dole out ridiculous amounts of fines.

** Slightly off subject: I just saw my first car with a push button start. It was someone that owned a BMW. Then I noticed it had no door keys. Then someone told me of you had to reKey the button start for some reason, then you'll forking out some serious cash.

I've seen quite a few, Renault's last couple of gens have PBS and the card transponder thing is too large IMHO.

I very nearly bought a MK3 Renault Megane-Scenic a few months ago but changed my mind when I looked at it more closely, it had more dents than an African kettle-drum.

My sister's Ford Galaxy S-Max has that mobile tethering feature.
