Got my second hospital appointment through, been told I'm having an agiogram. I will be in there for quite a few hours and I'm gonna be bored shitless, and the letter states that I have to shave my cobbler's.

If you're wondering why the shaving thing, they're gonna cut into the top of my leg and put a catheter probe through it. They also say they may need to cut into my wrist and shove a probe though there too.

Yeah Dave, that's what I meant. I've been told I can't drive for at least 24 hours.

Really not looking forward to it.

After the event, vids or it did happen. Actually scratch that!!

Hope everything goes OK.

Hospitals eh? Honestly, if I didn't work in one I'd never want to visit. In fact I still never want to visit one!

Thanks peeps.

I'm not too worried about what they're going to do, I mean surely it can't hurt that much. It's more the fact that I've got to stay there for up to 3 hours bored stiff afterwards to make sure there's no bleeding.

On the day I go in I have to be there before 7:30, and I prbably won't get home until way after mid-day.

Hope everything is tickety boo as well!

I've also got a bit of a thing as well, an ingrowing hair on my coccyx [EDIT Pilonidal cyst you call it), been swallowing anti-b's for about three weeks now, bonus was, the first two courses were the wrong ones and they changed them last week! Muppets

Got an appointment to see the surgical team at the Spire hospital in washington on the 26th, in the... General Rectal Sevice clinic! :/

You just know for a fact I'll not be able to find it in there and have to go to some random and say "Excuse me, could you please tell me where the rectal service clinic is pleased?"... I know I'll have too!

And if one person... Just ONE person says "Dabz, you getting your arsed serviced this Thursday?", they'll be hell on mind!

Dabz

Had the angiogram done today, they went in through the wrist rather than through the femoral artery. And yes, it really fucking hurt, it was akin to having the longest, fattest screw wound up my arm.

They originally told me it wouldn't hurt, lying bastards! LOL
---
They found a couple of diseased arteries, but not bad enough to require a stent. I now have to take beta blockers, cholesteral meds and asprin for the rest of my life.

All in all, I never want to go through that experience ever again.

Better that than karking it as a result of them not doing it...

Nothing more invasive required, then? That's not a bad thing.
Coming away with a longer daily prescription isn't too bad of a deal... as long as you can afford the prescriptions, of course..
But, yeah, could've been worse. *Thumbs up*

The swelling seems to have gone down now, still got some brusing though.

That's still not the end of it, they told me that I will require regular clinic checkups, I'm also having one of those 24 hour monitors fitted next month.

You're having a monitor fitted?

The wound looks far better than it did yesterday, I just changed the Tegaderm patch, the gaping hole that was there has now reduced to a small slit that just looks sort of like a needle mark but a few times bigger.

I was chinwagging with a nurse while a doctor was inserting the catheter guide in my arm, mid convo I suddenly said to him "ooh, that really fucking twangs!". I tried to have a look at what the doctor was doing but the nurse grabbed my head and said "never mind what he's doing, our conversation is more interesting!".

After the doctor finished and pulled out the catheter line I pulled back the obscurity sheet and had a good look, all I can say is there was this pipe that was the size of a Phillips screwdriver sticking out of my arm with something that looked like a trumpet on the end of it. The nurse caught me looking at it and asked me if I really should be looking at that, I told him that I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, scream, or try to play a tune on it.

At least the pain has died down quite a bit now, I should be OK to use the hand and drive again by tomorrow.

What is weird though, the bruising is quite minimal but it's also more nearer to my palm rather than around the wound itself.

Euww.. Medical stuff! Not fun when you see what's actually going on in there!!!

My hand is starting to work a bit better now, managed to hold a cup of coffee with out dropping it like I did yesterday afternoon. Still can't hold the kettle with it though or open jars, I have to hold the jar between my forarm and chest then twist the lid with my left hand.

All should be completely back to normal in a few days, at least I can type with it now.
