I think EA come under the 'bastards and cunts' umbrella, if I'm honest.

That really should be fucking illegal. That's just screaming out to kids to "Press me. Hard. Right there. You know you want to!" Kerching!

Bastards.

The problem is... Apple, Google or whoever will receive 30% of that, which rolls in at £24 (Rounded up)

They wouldnt let that sort of income go in a million years!

It's not just Apple - it's developers who have the morals of a fucking sewer rat. But there *really* should be a cap on the cost of IAPs.

Jesus H Christ...

Sat with my daughter today and she wanted a cat game to play. So I snagged one called "Daily Kitten". Said it had IAPs but you never really know the extent until you download.

All going well until she'd played with the kitten until it was shagged out and went to kip. So she clicked on a thing to wake it up, and up pops the following:

Ask your parents
2 + 4 = ??

Fucking seriously. She's 7 years old. She can work that one out since she was about three. As luck would have it, I have my iTunes account set to require a password every time, and I'm pretty sure any credit card I might have had on there in the past has expired long ago.

But for the people who don't have those measures in place.... this is how easy it is for your kid to unwittingly run up a bill of $1,000's.

Fuck greedy game developers. Fuck them all to hell.

Given your scenario, I'm shocked you haven't attempted any edutainment titles of your own... Or have you?

No, but I've thought about it. My "edutainment" titles would be a limited version with one single one-off IAP to unlock the whole thing, priced at probably $2.99 max.

The trial version would not have ads, or nag screens, or pop-ups of any kind.

That's how ALL children's software on mobile platforms should be.

By being seen as a responsible, family-friendly game developer who operates with complete transparency and fairness. Would be my answer to the moronic execs.

I don't need no Rolex. They're for people with teeny tiny willies.
