Haha, yeah, I ran out of unique background tiles available to me, might try to compensate for the overlapping bits with some well positioned sprites tonight. Hmmm

Added a couple more screens tonight to the mix, course select and new game / password entry bits.

I'm still enjoying gameboy dev, despite the niggling feelings that there's many other games I could be working on, with the plan to sell them on android / other platforms. I'm happy with making homebrew.

Chatting to a guy about putting the finished game onto physical cartridges. I have the components but it'd be nice to get one or two done by a professional first, for the whole pride side of it

Ahh, I'd best update this thread, as it's not died in development hell yet!

I've tweaked a lot of things to get the bank switching working more to my liking so I now have 18 seperate race tracks arranged, a lot to be designed, but the capacity is there inside 128kb for em all, which is kinda cool.

A.I. has been boosted up so they suffer the same fates as yourself when crashing into obstacles.

More team colours for opposing cars. Because, why not?

Fixed a whole bunch of bugs with scrolling and level initialising which were related to when I switched up into bank switching on-the-fly.

Custom palettes and sprites for each level set. Probably going to add music to each location, depending on famitracker and me

Will post a video later on this week, to show progress, but yeah, it's coming along nicely.

Someone on aliexpress seems to punt pretty much anything onto a cartridge.

www.aliexpress.com/store/1899142

Hoping he'll do something for me too. Anyhoo, I've emailled him / them asking if they can, how much and what quantities are involved.

Sure, they're not official nintendo gameboy cases, but it'll be a damned lot easier and cheaper to do it this way. (I could always lift the board out and slot their board in, anyways)

Just gotta hope that they can! Will report back when I hear more back.

not too much going by their prices on alibaba anyway, around $5 per cart. Soo, around £3.50-ish?

Given how many GBGames you're doing lately, I wonder if it might be more cost-effective to buy all the equipment needed to DIY the carts..?

Probably not, I'd need to spend around 2 hours per cart de / resoldering. I've not got the space for that anymore, the compatible chips alone are ~£1 a pop and donor carts are going to be around £2 - £3 so, it kinda makes more sense to do it this way.
