I'm on the fence. Can see the argument of both sides.

I'm not sure how the privacy issues of a dead terrorist come into play. I would have thought that apple wouldn't need to create and install a modified version if iOS onto the phone either, surely they have the resources already to simple unlock the thing. Depending on the version of iOS thats on the thing, it might even be possible to trick siri into opening up the messages/facebook app etc. without unlocking it. www.wikihow.com/Bypass-iPhone-Passcode.

|edit| After reading a comment on a different site, I'm inclined to agree that it's probably not a case of being unable to hack the phone, but more likely the legal president that would be set to allow future law enforcement to compel Apple to unlock anyones phone for 'national security' purposes.

Instead of wiping all data after 10 failed password attempts, it would make more sense to have the user just contact Apple.

Mr McAfee says his team of nerds can crack the phone open for free in probably a few weeks at the most. No doubt though, the FBI will not turn the phone over to an outside team for fear of losing the data.

Whereas it's super safe with the FBI. It's not like they'd leave it on a bus, or anything.

Bloody 'ell, it's not letting up, is it?!

For those not keeping tabs on this..
Apple are continuing to stress that creating the breakable iOS will be disasterous, as they already have hundreds of similar requests from all over the world. Once the "hack" is out there, privacy is fucked.
Google and Amazon have both spoken out on Apple's side, agreeing that phone-hacks are terrible.

Bill Gates has popped up, speaking against Apple, suggesting they should've just done it, and not made a big deal of things.. He's since attempted to retract his comments, as it's making it look like MS don't give a shit about privacy. (Even though he's not MS Gates anymore, people still seem to think that he speaks for the company!)

Now Apple are taking it to court, and apparently want to get some sort of voting system going, as this is now becoming so much bigger than it oughta!!!

It's Apple vs America!!!
Who will win?

FIGHT!!!!
