They tell how TumbleSeed made it onto Nintendo Switch as if it's a holy dark-art AAA title thing, I thought they opened up an indie channel for everyone anyway! Linkage

OK so they "cold called" them, but I thought that Nintendo indie thing was supposed to work kind of like Steam. You know!, upload, wait for approval, and what ever other crap involved in the process.

In layman's terms: I thought the days when you contacted Nintendo and basically gave them all the rights to your game, before a deal is even cut, were now a thing of the past.

Nintendo We currently cannot provide any additional information related to developing for Switch. Any future announcements will be posted to the Nintendo Developer Portal. We appreciate your support of Nintendo platforms.

That quote to me is making me think they were blowing hot air when they announced the indie channel last year. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing stuff about the Nintendo Wii when it was still being referred to by it's code name "Nintendo Revolution", they were teasing the indie game developers with the possibility of indie game development, that of course never did see the light of day.

They're heading in the right direction for indies, the 3ds dev stuff is about 10x the price of a retail 3ds, whereas if the switch dev kit is only about 1.5x the price of a retail switch.
Not sure if it's a good move commercially though. It'll lead to an apple/google style flood of terrible shovleware, far worse than nintendo have seen before.

"Classic SpikeDislike" (tentative title) is currently stewing in my head, and has been since December.
I've made a teensy bit of artsy progress, but nothing more than that, yet.
