FWIW, Smoke is OK but to my colourblind eyes, it's hard to see the difference between read/unread topics.

Really?!
Blimey. I always considered that to have the best contrast.
What colours are better for you?

Blue is fine, but maybe a few shades darker (not 50 shades, mind! Just a few).

OK, I've tweaked the "Read Topic" colour to make it a bit darker and slightly yellow'ish.
Is that any better?!
(Shift+F5 refreshes the CSS)

Or is it specifically the "Unread" colour that's the problem?

Its fine now.

Thig with being colourblind is that it isn't just 'red' or 'blue' or whatever that's the problem - it's certain shades of colours where the hues are closer together, i.e. i can't tell the difference between lime green amd bright yellow, but i can identify grass green, no problem. Sky blue and violet - no chance. Royal blue, easy!

I managed to get through abput the first 20 years of my life without many people knowing, because most people's first reaction is to point at random shit and test me.

It happened in a job interview once that had fuck all to do with colours. You wouldn't ask someone in a wheelchair to get up and fucking walk* so why test me on this?

* Atos might.

I do try my best to consider "shades" when doing, say, puzzle games and such. And adding little geometric shapes or odd blobs tends to help.. But I can never be certain whether it's enough.

Yeah its tricky as there are varying severities of colourblindness. There isn't one solution that'll work for everyone.

Found this http://colororacle.org/
You can just right click on the system tray icon and select which type of colorblindness you want to test. Then your screen will filter with those colors for a few seconds so you can see just what things look like.

Also a chrome extension for filtering web pages What a horrible URL

Seems like BlitzCoder is a firm favourite, but .. I can't very well have that be the primary default theme, with the BlitzCoder logo there!!!
I'll have to create a faux Socoder logo in the BC style (much like the CW theme has) and use that, instead.

Would everyone be ok with that?!

OK, "2002 - Krylar - BlitzSoCoder" has been set as the new default theme for S2.
Both sidebars now default to being switched on, too.
*tsk*
All that work, and the first impression people will have is...
"Well, that's just BlitzCoder, isn't it!?"

Bah, humbug.
Still, I know I've done a fuckton of work under the hood, (a complete rewrite!!) and that's OK with me!

Theres a name from the past. Whats he up to these days? remember he went to one of the Blitzcons years back but AFAIK i never got to speak to him.

I was normally drunk within two hours of arriving so this may not be correct.

Books and books and books!

I do keep referencing his books in the newsletters, but I don't think anyone's noticed!
