If you haven't yet learned, over the past decade or so, that iTunes is one of the worst pieces of software on your PC or Mac, then you're a crazy nutjob!
This week, people have started noticing that iTunes is deleting the mp3's from their hard drive, and replacing them with *usually* better quality versions from the cloud.
Unfortunately, when you have super-rare tracks, bad shit can happen as it confuses one version for another. And if it's music you've created yourself, then ... Well.. Shit..
For the past week or so, I've personally been using iTunes to rip all my CDs, knowing fully well that what ends up on my HD isn't "always" what was on the CD.
I have absolutely no issues with what it's doing, but I do, of course, have everything on super-duplicate-backup, just in case.
But, if you DO use iTunes, do the right thing and make sure that A ) you don't tell it about any important stuff, and B )you backup everything that you do let it find on your system.

GfK's Dad went in for Heart surgery, a couple of week ago, and seemed to come out of it fairly well.
Unfortunately, this week he's stuck back in the hospital with a (hopefully) unrelated stomach issue.
Either an ulcer, his meds, or perhaps even food poisoning.
We're all on tenderhooks waiting to find out what it is.
