I just PM'd the creator of arduboy to see if he has any objections to me making the code public, with there being an official arduboy tetris game and all.

https://arduboy.com/tetris-microcard/#learn-more

This just might be one of the few times that I actually care about someone else IP.

Been working on the background for my Pokitto version of tetris...

I like the second one best, Helen likes the first one.
Any opinions?

flip between the two on level up?

Along the same lines as Mr R, but, I think it'll be nice on each level up to gradually transition from light to dark, and back rinse repeat.

Oooh, I like that.
Even more complicate, but ...

Each line cleared adds a set of dark tiles on the border. Level complete once it's full..

I like both too, although i am partial to gradients, so #2 would be my choice, but alternating could be good too.

Getting better! Just need to add the usual 'missing' bits, such as title screen, game over screen etc.

I've been thinking of slowly changing the palette based on how many lines... not sure how well it will work.

As long as it plays "properly", that's the main thing.
And not having the next 160,000 tiles be visible is a good start

The gameplay is modeled quite closely on the gameboy version, so no smooth moving blocks, no weird inertia when moving left/right. No shape holding, no sudden drop, no shadows or grid. Just straight forward Tetris(tm).

Hmmm,, going to have to redraw the pieces for an idea to work.. I think they'll have to be more like the gameboy ones.. Need to try and get more variety out of the three colours.
