I Stubbed My Toe...

So.. I'm halfway through reorganising my bedroom, and as you can imagine, there are boxes and random items scattered all over the floor.
It's ..."manageable", and I can just about shuffle my way from place to place, but .. Grrr..
"Toe stubbing" appears to be the ultimate game to play, lately, as I continuously thump my foot against unexpected items.

Sunday morning, I awoke to a marginally larger toe. Right foot, 2nd toe.
BIG swelling, kinda horrible colour, with ooosing! Mmmm...!!!
The puss kinda oozed away, so I squeezed and bathed, and rubbed on some Savlon (antiseptic cream)

(The irony of being literally sick from Head to Toe is not lost on me..!)

The swelling calmed down over the course of the day, Mum looked at, and we both agreed I should head off to the Doctors. Mum went down Monday morning, and made me an appointment, and i was given an appointment for late Monday.
Half an hour later, the doctor himself rang up, asking me to come down ASAP. He wasn't worried, he just wanted to see me getting out and about!

So, off we went, and spent a good ten minutes or so chatting to the doc. He asked all about my head's progress, and how my balance was, and my sickness, and ended with that generic "shrugs.. No idea what's up with you!" that all the docs are doing..
.. Then he looked at my toe for about a second or two, and said "Yep, it's infected.." so prescribed me some antibiotics..
... Then sat and continued to chat about my head for another ten mins or so.
At one point, his phone rang, and we heard "yes. He's here now. .. His toe's infected.. "
Which is odd, if I'm honest. Not a clue who it was, or why they were calling. Kinda creepy.

*shrugs*

So, antibiotics for a week, and carry on with the Savlon. Hopefully it goes away, or it'll be some kind of evil nasty operation of some sorts. Eeek! I don't like those!!!

FWIW (and speaking from personal experience), soaking the foot twice a day for about 30 minutes each time in a tub or pan of very warm water with 3/4 of a cup to 1 cup of epsom salts mixed in the water until it dissolves will help draw out the infection.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

Four days on, and it's starting to look a little more like a normal toe!

Warning : Contains photo of toe!

> Reveal 🔎

Pretty sure that the "Kicking the 30 year old plug of a 30 year old Amstrad Monitor" was the likely suspect. Of all my toe stubbing incidents in the past couple of weeks, that was the one that really stung..
Other items I've kicked over the past few weeks include the casters of my chair (which was sat in an odd place that I don't normally leave it.. numerous times..), a pile of magazines (which are currently lying in the middle of the room), one of the shelves of the new Bookcases (which was waiting in the corner, near the door, for the units to be assembled) and the drawer of my bed (Which Molly has an annoying habit of opening whilst I'm in my bed!)

'tis a bloody deathtrap, in here!

That photo just made my arse cheeks clench and my nuts tighten, I know exactly what that feels like.

the worst thing about taking antibiotics?!

4 a day, an hour before eating...
Meaning, I not only need to schedule each meal, and remember an hour beforehand top take the tablet, but I also need to have four meals a day....
Given that I've settled on a "No breakfast, simple dinner, large tea, decent supper", I'm having to make a fairly large change to my diet.
Had to buy in cereal, and even started to wake up in the morning..
...
This sucks!!!!

Can't wait until the toe's better, and I can sleep until after 12, again!!!

It sucks, but the antibiotics are only temporary. Could be worse, it could be a medication you have to take for the rest of your life that you would need to take with food and have to get up in the middle of the night and eat to take that medicine.

yeah, I'm lucky that my Blood Pressure tablets are much more freeform, schedule wise.

I can be much lazier

During my hiatus from the forums, I had a nasty kidney infection and I had to be on Cipro (an antibiotic) for two weeks, and had to take it with food twice a day. Didn't phase me as I already have to get up at midnight to eat a bowl of oatmeal so I can take my kidney medicine. Up until the kidney medicine came along, I had always only ate once per day. But, I had to start eating a small something as the kidney medicine is really harsh on an empty stomach. But, now I sleep in two shifts, so I can be up around midnight, unless it is like last night and I said fuck it and dozed and skipped my kidney medicine. LOL

You poor thing!!

I do tend to whinge a lot, and must remind myself that in every given scenario, there's usually somebody worse off than myself.
... And it's usually Kuron!

If I ever want to feel better about my health issues, I simply look to my ex fiancee. She is far worse off than me when it comes to health. She makes me look like I have four leaf clovers growing out of my body instead of hair.

....and.. Relax!!!

After a week of crappy "normal" sleep schedule, I finished my antibiotics last night, and more than made up for it, this morning!
It's 11:40, and I've only just woken up!!
A Lazy Jay is A Happy Jay!!

Toe seems nice and uninfected, now. A bit of random skin where it was all gooey and pussy, but otherwise clean and no longer sore.
Hurray for horribly disgusting tablets that tasted of superglue..

*Wonders how Jay knows what superglue tastes like?*

When you've been busy gluing something, then inadvertently bite a fingernail... That nasty "zingy" taste..

I lost count how many times I've done the nail bite thing after using cyanoacrylate when repairing RC planes, the cyano-encrusted fingers isn't too nice either.
