Over the past few days, I have started work on Coverflow DS (name may change later). Basically, much like DSision and DSision2, I am trying to make loading files on the DS look better. This idea, as you can tell, is based on the iPod/iPhone/iTunes coverflow menu system.
This one comes with a nice little app, to make transferring cover images to the ds easier, by correctly formatting the images for you.
Currently working are -
Coverflow part working fine (scrolling/animating etc.)
Loading of homebrew.
App for setting up the covers.
Yes, I know the icon on the lower screen doesn't match the upper screen, the lower screen only a mockup, the top screen however, is a genuin screengrab.
Thanks to anyone who has helped so far.
What do you think? should I keep working on it?
|update|
I might have finished...
With things fixed such as dshc support and booting stuff through an external loader, it should now be future proof and updatable.
The cover importer works a bit better, no longer do I need to put up with the default ordered dither to websafe palette. Now it saves 8bit bmp with averaged palette! I should probably throw some error diffusion in there too, just to make it look a little nicer.
OK guys, here is the first alpha release. Don't expect moonshell2 or anything, most of the features don't work yet, all you have is loading, no favourites, no settings, no information etc.
Here it the .nds, just extract everything to the root of your card. DScovered (Nds app)
You will also need to use the windows app to set up the covers, there are thousands of commercial covers in here, plus a handful of homebrew ones. DScovery (windows app)
As I said, this is just alpha, don't expect windows7 or anything
Spinal! Great job! Although you dont know me, i've looked at DSision 2 and DiagnoseS and loved them. Do you think you could make DScovered browes through folders too so that we could put games somewhere other that the root. Otherwise great work! I love it.
Could I ask if you are able to set it up so that when u hit the games button on the main menu it goes to DSCovered. It would be so much easier for my boy to load games like this.
You didn't mention which card you use, but as you mention the 'games button' I will assume it's an R4. If it is real R4 (as opposed to a clone of a different card) then you can try replacing your firmware with this. Remember to make a backup of your current firmware first though.
It will jump straight into DScovered when you card boots up.
Sorry I forgot to put that in my post spinal. Yes i'm using an R4. It is definatly genuine. I am also using firmware 1.27 and moonshell 2.
You say it will boot up as soon as the DS boots but I also want to watch the films and read the books I have from the multimedia button on the menu, hence why I asked if you can load DSCovered from the game button rathr than a straight boot up?
Ah.
As far as I know, you cant change the function of the game button.
You should be able to load the multimedia app from DScovered though. Just tick _DS_MSHL.nds in the list when setting up DScovered through DScovery.exe
You can download a guide for setting up DScovered from here It has links to the latest downloads too.
I have an original R4 and I:YSMenu 09/03/27 00:00 + DSTT Unofficial Firmware 1.17a12 rev04
Infolib + Extlib + Savelib 13/03/10 11:02
but I am unable to start games, I tried various versions, the last of dscovered, but nothing makes me start the game, the fine graphics, but when I click on the cover have a white screen.
Please, help me
bjmira
I had a idea how about a info screen on the top screen but you don't have to have it up you can switch between the launch game screen and info screen...what you think..??
I made a request in the shout box... Please make this the UNofficial site, just because my website is currently down, does not make it OK for others to claim to be the official site for any of my work.
I don't think it works on acekard anymore, but it's simple enough, have a look through some of the akaio ini files, some of them set which game to load on startup, just add some code to change which game it is.
