| View Topic : RoadRash! | I will never understand the reasoning behind driving on the right. The whole idea behind driving on the left (correct) side of the road, is so that you can swipe at attackers with your sword. So either far more of the world are left handed that we are lead to believe, or there's some other nonsense reason for it.
On the topic of the video itself, watching someone else drive doesn't interest me much. Now had it bean a roller coster recorded in 3D, that would be something. |

Speaking as someone with feet, I feel your pain.
Now, to think of something to do with a BA in English that doesn't involve your feet.... could be tricky. |
| View Topic : Wrong Partition!!!!? | | Bah, reinstalled both, they seem to be working now. But I have to go through the hours of uninstalling a million hp applications and other useless crap. |

| View Topic : Wrong Partition!!!!? | i tried setting my windows 7 partition to active, it resulted in the machine not booting up. windows 8 lets you choose the default os to boot from, but both the windows 7 and 8 boot menu load the recovery partition when selecting Windows 7.
Currently I am backing up my windows 7 partition, as according to the stupid HP recovery thingy I will loose everything if I do any sort of restore. |
| View Topic : Wrong Partition!!!!? | Here's a problem, I installed the Windows 8 90 day trial to a new partition on my laptop, it boots fine, seems to work ok. But I can no longer boot Windows 7 on the thing because when I select it from the boot menu, it boots the recovery partition instead of the Windows partition.
Anyone know how I can fix this? Can I add new boot menu items to the windows 7 boot menu (or 8 i guess) and test all partitions or something from within Windows 8?
Should I risk doing a recovery? From what I remember the only recovery options that were available on this thing are full format....
Argh! |
| View Topic : Shapes | Thats the sort of thing jay! You might see some of those shapes in level 32 and later |
| View Topic : Shapes | | Anyone got any nice small monochrome images I can base my level maps off? I only have 29 levels so far and I lef space for 127ish. No real size constraint, as long as I can get a good idea of the shape if it’s shrank down to 30x20 or so. |

| View Topic : Teaching To Code | This has turned out to be quit the talking point! It seems for now at least that the lessons wont be happening, I was going off the word of a friend about a different friend. I'll ask them about it next time I see them.
Until then though, I agree with those of you who say setting up an environment is less important than the actual coding part for beginners.
A lot of us started on machines where programming was the main focus of the machine itself, the old 8-bits for example. I really doubt I would have even though of coding at all if I wasn't presented with a 'READY∎' every time I powered up, begging my to type something. |
| View Topic : Teaching To Code | | I’ve been volunteered to teach a 12 year old girl how to code. Any ideas where to start? I started by reading the C64 manual, I doubt that would be much help. |
| View Topic : Offline Web App!!!!! ARGH!!!!! | | Ok, I seem to have it working, not sure exactly what the problem was. Changing my main page filename to index.html might have been what fixed it, didn't do much else. deleted the .htaccess file, changed offline.manifest to chache.manifest. That was it, one of those things fixed it. |
| View Topic : Where Are You? | | I'm from a town called Cramlington, the closest landmark city to me is Newcastle-upon-tyne (around 10 miles away) in the north east of england. Nothing important has really happened around here. We don't get fancy bridges or anything. |
| View Topic : Comments | Also quite often I have old code, usually variable values or equations commented out, but kept fir future reference, usually temporary but also usually left there forever.

| View Topic : Offline Web App!!!!! ARGH!!!!! | This is really starting to irritate me.
-Background-
I created a basic level editor in Monkey, using the html5 build so that I can make some levels on any device, so I'm not restricted to sitting in the corner on my Mac.
-Problem-
The damn thing point blank refuses to load when the device (iPad) is offline.
I have the files on my localhost, it loads fine when MAMP is fired up and the localhost is accessible.
Steps I have taken
The following is the contents of my MonkeyGame.html
-->
As you can see, I have the required stuff for iPad fullscreen and whatnot, but the main bit of course is the manifest="offline.manifest"
The contents of offline.manifest are as follows-
-->
Which is every file required by the app.
I have also created a .htaccess file with the following
-->
For safety I have placed this in both htdocs and in the folder containing my app.
My next step was to edit Applications/MAMP/conf.apache/httpd.conf to make sure that the following was set, to that it would actually use the .htaccess file
-->
After a couple of days of nothing working, I now ask you guys.
Why on earth is my offline html app not caching on my iPad?
Thank you in advance  |
| View Topic : Comments | | Code comments... Whats your method/style? Usually I write them as if someone might read them, but knowing full well that I’ll probably be the only one who ever reads them. I usually say things like // This is where we add the random speed, or //Guess what this does! -- How about you guys? |
