CentiPong - Created by Jayenkai (Rating 100%) | This is a Monthly Workshop Entry.

Centipede + Pong
Created using Blitz > WindowsView Worklog (0 entries)
Centipong.zip
2 classic Atari 2600 games warped into one.
Hit the ball at the centipede.
Nice and easy!

You only need a mouse, and quick reflexes, to enjoy this game!

Highslide JS
Recent Updates

Version 1.5
Almost at the point where I leave a game, powerups are in the engine, as well as extra features once you get up to level 4.
Plenty to play, and maybe some more to come.. But I'm happy with where the game is now, so I might leave it be!

Version 3
Added alternative resolutions, shifted particles to 3D sprites, and also added alternative Orientations.

Version 2
Added particles, background and fullscreen mode.

Version 1
I might update this later, and add loads of particles and things..

Or I might not.

Bloody 'eck! Very good!

One minor complaint - I kept loosing control when my mouse left the window. If you update anything, could you make it so that the mouse can't leave the window?

Or make it fullscreenable for those of us that ABHOR windowed games.

Cool idea, btw!

OK, v2.
Added some fancy schmancy lines to act as particles.. (watch out for those framerates!!!)
Added a simple pimple alpha'd background.
Added fullscreen mode. (use the bat, or run with left$(lower$(commandline$()),1)="f" )
and Sped up Centi-Spawning a little.

New Version, New Rules!

I think we'll officially call this the last of the "Is this a game?/Test" editions, with the next one being a proper "Oh, yes, this is actually a fun game!" edition.

So, no main menu just yet, still the plain simple "Click here to start" thing, but we're definitely getting closer.

Smash up the centipedes, there's a set number per level.

Bounce a pod for extra points. Each pod can only be bounced 5 times, though, with each progressive bounce giving you more points.
Once all centipedes are smashed, YOU CANNOT LOSE, so keep bouncing what you can to rack up the points..
Drop all bouncing pods leftover, and the level is done. If you still have the main ball in play at this point, you get 1000 bonus points. 100 points per mushroom still onscreen, too.

Rinse, repeat.

I found the game was much tougher when there's only 1 centipede in a level.. You have to concentrate to get that one, rather than letting all the pods blob about smashing everything up, so every 4th level is a "Focus Round" where you only get the 1. Think of it as a boss level, but cheaper to make!

Next version... A proper menu, some power ups, and maybe even some proper bosses or other enemy types, who knows..

And again!
Added powerups, and a half decent menu system.
Still no proper bosses, or extra enemy types, but extra sound effect, an ingame tune and a few inner-tweaks have been added.

This game's fun

I really like this. Very well made, very polished and pretty fun too. One criticism, all (or at least the vast majority) of the power-ups do bad things. I'd have most of them do good things.

There's a stretcher to make the paddle bigger, a heart to make the balls come towards your paddle, a big arrow to make the balls fly right through things instead of bouncing off them, and even an extra ball.

That's 4 out of 7!
But feel free to suggest more possible powerups.. I ran out of ideas after 7!

Not much change in today's version, but there's a couple of new features when you hit levels 4 and 8.
And a much needed pause button, too! (Space or RMB)

Couple of extra pickups are now available, and if you'd like to add some music into the mix, chuck it in the "system/m004/mods" directory.

This is pretty much as far as I'm going to go with this game.
It's nice to play for a few mins, but having worked on it for a whole week, things are starting to get repetitive

C'est fini!

power mousey

on your new game
about the Blockman,

perhaps not only just baddies but also goodies too.
Maybe have a few characters that either be baddie or goodie
in the way you interact with them. Such characters as
a few centipedes, some pong people, and the dreaded
centipong too. Yes, the centipong!
Genetic game programming gone bad: blending centipede with pong.
