PC World / Currys and Comet are also out.
I currently have Argos, Tesco and Amazon all open, auto-refreshing every 30 seconds.
I intend to buy a touchpad!

I thought about it for about half a minute when they were still at Dixon's earlier.
..
I eventually opted not to.
I really should get an iPad, because my games are all shittily scaled on there, and the last time I tried to fix it, ... I've still not fixed that..
I REALLY need to do that.
...
I REALLY need to sell some games.
...
I REALLY need to be REALLY lucky!!!

Jayenkai I REALLY need to sell some games.
Developers are fleeing WebOS, the marketplace sucks, and they've sold at least 500,000. You can write games in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It's the perfect storm if you ask me.

I have a no-flames rule on Socoder, so I'm going to have to refrain from making the blindingly obvious joke that should follow Stealth's previous post.

That's what I thought.
I downloaded the virtual WebOs SDK which can use JavaScript thinking that I could port it over to the Apple products later.
I went in there about 30 minutes ago and asked but I guess he gave me the wrong information.

I left my name on the list that HP provided for future Hp Touchpads.
I cannot see the logic in HP doing this unless they are:
1) going to make more to sell
2) Have more stashed somewhere and are looking for them to sell
3) Are anticipating the return of broken ones and expect to repair them for resale to anyone who wants one of the machines.

The product was discontinued. They're just liquidating the stock.

I've tried the whole day to get a TouchPad - still no joy. Many webOS devs are in exactly the same boat; prevented getting one by eBay fleecers who bought multiple machines just to sell.

The important thing is to make sure nobody buys it off the ebay assholes so they'll have wasted hundred of dollars. |

You know Rock, I never thought of that. Someone buying more than one to resell.
I would have thought that HP would take that into consideration.
Best Buy prevented multiple buyers of the things.

I'm sitting on amazon, with it refreshing every 5 seconds. About half an hour ago a seller popped up shipping a Touchpad for £99, but I missed it : ( .

There are articles in the newspaper about the sale. HP still intends to find or make more.
I made the decision to definitely buy one if HP sold a NEW not a Re-manufactured Touchpad.
The article also went on to mention that the idiot CEO stopped production on the Touchpad but, he intends to go further and stop or sell the complete computer division of HP.
Someone know who the stockholders are? They need to stop the man before he destroys the company.

Last week his strategy made perfect sense, the division made no money in a crowded market which is dominated by Android and iOS. A market also being aggressively penetrated by Windows Phone 7 (regardless of how well it does).
The only reason they have sold so many is because they have practically given them away. They cost over £300 to produce.

I found that there is another model of the TouchPad that has never been released.
It's the TouchPad 4G which may be the next 99 deal that comes out of HP.
I just found the info on the name and am going to check the specs if it's the unit they plan to ship for that price.
That one I may definitely want.

It won't come out as a $99 deal. HP aren't selling these at $99 to make a sale, or a deal, they are doing to dump stock.

There's also a white 64GB TouchPad available that didn't hit the sales...
As for the manufacturing cost of over £300 (and it was $dollars quoted) that was based on single component prices - HP would have bought in bulk and saved much more. I suspect the actual cost of each machine is closer to the sale price - still a loss for HP, but not £200.
I do hope that a few extra thousand TPs are "found" as there are numerous webOS devs that still haven't managed to bag one. Including myself, although I might have one lined up.

They wont be manufacturing anymore. They've said there are still some left after production stopped. They lost a lot of money on these and the CEO was pulling the plug before they lost even more.
Consumer PCs have thin margins because of the high cost of Windows and fierce competition for low prices. I'm not surprised they are getting out of this business. They make a lot more money with their business customers.

@JL235: I hope that the 4Gs are that low. But if Hp intends to dump them then it could be any price lower or higher.
Sounds like a complete liquidation sale. I'll try and keep my eye open for the announcement but I have limited news access.
Does anyone know the specs on the forthcoming 4G?
