I've always been crappy at art, but when I do bother to do something that attempts to look vaguely "nice", I'll spend time getting it "not shit!".
Except, I don't seem to just take my time..
I seem to REALLY take my time!
As an example, I just spent the past hour (an hour!) drawing a button.
I don't know why it took me an hour!
Hopping back and forth between the PC (Paintshop Pro) and Mac (XCode), tweaking the corners, rounding out the shine, reducing the transparency of the middley bit.
An hour.
Rediculous!
Does anyone else do that? I find it really kinda weird..

I'm the same Jay.
Here's an image for Dino Defense my caveman/dinosaur game.
You would not believe how many times I redrew those dinosaurs and cavemen. Constant revisions, taking hours and hours just to do one character. I'm sure that a pro would create better than this in five minutes flat 
The cavemen are animated (but not finished), but not the dinos. Then I've got to texture them.

Yup, I do it a lot, but making something really well polished does take time.
However lately I've been trying to just not care, and instead get the graphics or code done in as little time as possible, and I've ended up being more productive as a result.
