New Rule : Don't let your neck get too cold, at night.. Woke up, this morning, to a very miserable morning..

...

Oh boy, that was ACTUALLY quite a scary morning..
Dreamt I was back in hospital, due to complications. They were worried about my neck, and I could feel it was quite sore. Then I woke up.
..
... Then I realised, my neck was indeed quite sore..
I felt the back, and BLOODY HELL, was there a lump there!!
And it was cold, and hard, and .. Arrrgghh!!!!

-=-=-

I'd falled asleep on my front. I usually fall asleep on my back, or side, but sleeping on my front had left my neck exposed.
.. And it was cold!!

My neck unsually fills up with goo during the night, then in the morning, the Shunt drains it all away.
But last night, it got cold, and.. I'm pretty damn sure it'd frozen!!! It was fairly damn solid, that's for sure.

So I got out of bed, turned the heating up to full, grabbed a coffee, and sat trying to warm myself up.
Took a good hour or so, before the shunt kicked into gear, and the lump/dent got back to it's normal status, at which point all the sudden fluid drain caused extra queaziness, meaning a whole lot of morning sickness.

Urgh...
Not sure how I'm going to sleep, tonight, but I expect a Xmas jumper with a large collar might not be a bad idea!!

Ouch. Yuck. Ouch!

Have you considered a scarf?

I've considered that I'd probably end up strangling myself if I slept with a scarf around my neck!!!

I meant in the morning, but yeah sleeping in a scarf is probably not a good idea!

Going to have to wrap an electric blanket around my neck at night, I reckon!!

If goo is still manifesting then there must be something still burried in there that is causing infection. There are many specialists out there, some that know different tequniques to others, and you really need more looking into than what just one doctor can do.

I've had about five or six specialists look into my MRIs. After the bout of morning sickness, they needed to be sure it was nothing major that was causing it, and had my scans checked by other specialists.
This isn't a "something wrong with it" problem. Each night as I sleep, and laying flat, the fluid builds up. Then once I'm up, it starts to drain away. That's "normal".
That's why they added the shunt, because there's too much fluid. And having too much fluid is a common enough thing that these shunts actually exist!! In fact, if your fluid is VERY severe, they even make programmable shunts!! ... .. Wonder if I could code a game on that?!?
(Mine's only a mild fluid issue.. So i get the el'cheapo none-programmable shunt.)

Today's issue is merely a "care and attention" one, and it's something that hadn't yet cropped up, but that I'm going to have to be aware of in future.
No camping for me!!!

I can't get cumfy unless I'm flat. My pillow's ludicrously unpillowlike!!
Just ordered a Snood from Amazon.
... I can see why Sonic's started wearing one, now. Although, unlike Sonic, I'm not naked the rest of the way down!!

It's as permanent as the Shunt. AGameAWeek can be hazardous to your health!!!

The fluid's apparently always been there, but wasn't ever noticed until the CT scan.
XRays don't detect such oddities, and that's all Docs ever bothered to do, previously.
Stupid doctors.. Grr..
But it's under control. The shunt's doing it's job, but if in the middle of the day, my neck is still bulgy and fluidy, I'm to call the hospital, as the shunts can occasionally fail.
Thankfully, it's done its job, this morning. It just couldn't do it whilst my neck was so damn cold!!!

Went for my regular 6pm nap, which usually lasts about an hour, then perks me up for the rest of the night.
...
It's now 9:30, and boy, did I have a solid nap!!
Currently wearing my old Simpsons scarf, and hopefully won't strangle myself before my el-cheapo Snood appears tomorrow.
Ps, it's bloody freezing again, but my neck is toasty warm

Day Two with the Snood.
Alarmingly comfortable, and lovely and toasty!
Slept for a good 8 hours, last night, with a nice and warm neck.
Mmmm...
