It seems like the chinese have been screwing up a lot lately, or atleast that we're discovering their mistakes. For those of you who don't know, over the past few months the chinese have been targeted for distributing poisonous dog/cat food and tooth paste, and also recently for distributing toys (contracted through matel and fisher-price) that had lead in the paint (also toxic, especially bad with children's toys because babies always stick toys in their mouth).

The safety commissioner involved in the dog/cat food and the toothpaste was sentenced to death by the chinese government. Now, recently, the chinese government reported that the person in charge of the children's toy manufacturing scandal committed suicide.

It seems that our rapid outsourcing is finally catching up to us... thoughts?

It's a scary world.

Death penalty is a wee bit harsh, methinks.

yes, its harsh.
Perhaps pay a big heavy fine, lock him up
for a certain amount of months/years. And
perhaps....a few advantegous programs for
the companys' rivals and compeititions.

Yet, its still Red China.

I'm just wondering when foreign countries
and markets will cash in on their investments in Bush country. And also try to consolidate and collect debts as well. The whole USA will come crumbling down in a state of both inflation and recession as well.

If any of their crappy contaminated products ever caused my Son any harm, I would travel to their country armed more heavily than Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I would like to take that spinning top and shove it where the sun dont shine. And judging by it's circumference, it looks like it's gonna hurt .

[I ranted a bit here. It's gone now.]

Oh and btw Steve, I find this quite disturbing:
"I would travel to their country armed more heavily than Arnold Schwarzenegger"

and what? Kill innocent people for the fault of toy making companies? or do you not consider them separate entities; that all chinese people are really out to harm your son?

what's that, it was a joke? oh ok. Mass homocide is quite amusing, i guess

I find it funny that no-one is to blame for allowing these products into our countries. Isn't there any US/UK (government or toy companies) regulation or checks before they are allowed on the shelves?
Yes, the Chinese are to blame but no-one seems to be losing their jobs over at fisherprice or where-ever.

(I'm probably wrong cuz I haven't read up on any of it)

Bit o'lead never did much harm to no-one. I had a lead-paint cot as a baby, and all I did was get good GCSE results

No, seriously, I think it's good that the toy companies recalled all those millions of toys - that's a huge amount. And the pet-food thing was quite scary I thought. I'd hate for my cat to ever get seriously ill. She's expensive enough when she sees the Vet as it is - not to mention very heavy to carry there too!

@ svrman... It was said in a joking kind of way, but I am also quite protective over my son.

|edit| What I want to know is how the Nat-King-Cole did lead based paint come to be used in toys, when it was supposed to be banned from toys and interior decorating many decades ago. |edit|

@ HoboBen...

If you think that your cat is heavy now, she would be even heavier if she eats leaded food .

I heard that when Mattel sued the company that made the products, the manager sold off all the machinery to pay off his workers, and was found hanging from the factory ceiling next day.
