I once threw out an old TV. I carried it down to the comunal bins in the car parking area in my street, by the time I had got back in my flat, it was gone!

- I did leave a note on it, saying that it still worked, but I expected it to at least take a couple of hours for someone to notice it, not two minutes like it did :p
