Socoder -> Question of the Day -> QOTD : Trying too hard

I just downloaded the demo of Space Invaders Extreme on the X360.
On the DS it's a fantastic game, but on the 360.. I'm not really sure what's wrong with it.

I think, in honesty, it might be the fact that all the sound effects are "NEW!" and not as clean and retro as they were on the DS.

It reeks of a company trying far too hard, and buggering things up.

QOTD : What other games have folk tried too hard to make "Worthwhile"?

..

Tetris springs instantly to mind!

Deus Ex 2 maybe. Looked amazing, top end rag-doll physics (top at the time), but gameplay wise it was real let down on Deus Ex.

New, Flashy shit on a good old game =/= A better game.
