I've seen something similar done in a model plane, but not with a VR headset. It was a camera with a 2.4GHZ transmitter apparently, the guy is a bit eccentric and would try anything when it comes to RC planes. Other flyers were also sticking digital video cameras on their planes, this is before Go-Pro came out so it looked a bit nobbish. It obviously could only be viewed after landing, but the one that Mick did actually transmitted back to a screen in real time.
