I'm having quite an unhappy time with this. The fullscreen mode doesn't stick, it keeps reverting back to non-fullscreened. When this happens it also looses the width of my taskbar (very annoying).

Just this, or the rest of my 2010 games?
Not getting it my side, even with a bunch of Alt+Tabbing, so you'll have to let me know.

Best bet, keep it in a window!

It's really good but I'm afraid I couldn't even get past Level 3: The ladder by the exit!

This is a great game. I like the improved visuals -- you can really tell that there's some 3D magic going on behind the scenes. That AGameAWeek tune is really starting to etch itself into my head, which is a good thing. And you managed to find people to design levels for you, which is nothing short of amazing.

The levels were a bit hard though. And I don't like the life-based approach; I want to continue playing until I get it right, not restart or go to the menu!

I've gone through that time and time again.. Are levels individual, are they in packs, should you go through or just pick each one, do you have lives, is it timed?!

It's slightly annoying that I can't ever seem to get things "just right", but I'm quite happy with the 3-lives, 4-level thing. Just enough to test your patience, and also gives you a reason to lay out the levels in the right order. So, a really really hard level could then be followed by 3 easier ones, to give the player a slight reward. 'ish!

Overall this is very good, but it needs more levels!

I've also made a quick video of completing my level, including getting all spheres.

Bonus Levels!

These levels are from the DS edition. I've had to tweak a few bits here and there, though. The plungers are about 3/4 the speed they were on the DS, so a couple of plunger-runs became impossible.. They've been "fixed", but there's still a couple of mad-dashes to perform

DS Converts

I've only done the first 4 packs, so far, so there's another load to come. But in the meantime, enjoy the super terrific bonus levels.

Oh, and DD might be happy to learn that the first batch are "Practice" levels!!

Brilliant! I love the new graphics and gameplay elements - they make the puzzles so much more interesting! Although I have to agree with Phoenix on the lives system... I'm not really a fan of that (although it does provide a reason to keep playing ).

The only other slight things I have a small problem with are the keydoors when jumping (it's not very obvious you have to push into them; I assumed touching them would open them) and the pause when changing direction (although I see why it's necessary on the jump pads). But those are tiny little things. Generally it's excellent!

The key issue was brought up when I first added the keys.
Since you're picking up one key at a time, you have the ability to then annoyingly waste keys.

eg..

If you "insta-touch" unlock, then you'd waste your key before you had a chance to use it at the right point.
It's one of those "Use it precisely" things that comes with the fact that this is more "Puzzle" than "Platformer".
Which is the right door to use? Are there enough keys in the levels?
Slightly annoying, but much more precise!

As is the pause, infact albeit for a different reason.
Imagine standing on a 1 tile pedastal facing right, with spikes below it, and having to jump left, but having switched the game to "One Button Jump" mode.
Things are a hell of a lot more complicated with One Button Jump!!
The pause wasn't there until I started adding One Button Jump.

Silly One Button Jump.

Looks like this game will have the same piece of text that the DS08 edition had.

"Additional Gfx by Sir Voe"

(or rather, I grabbed his sprites, and am upping them in the same way I did mine.)

is there a way to run this on 64bit linux?
Saturday, 24 April 2010, 22:53
Jayenkai
*shrugs* Not all that good at Linux support, yet, to be honest.
What Distrib are you using? I'll try compiling with it natively, see if that helps..
Otherwise, you've tried Wine, right?

In Wine I got past the level one, then I got the same error as in Linux native:

Unable to calculate tex size

It seems it was not the matter of 32/64bit, but the combination of my video adapter and Blitz graphics routines... On my old, now broken, computer everything worked.

I think this happens on this computer with all your recent games.

A quick Google search reveals this post about using some alternative library, and another, about a workaround, where it was enough to set resolution to 640x480.

I'm using hp 2230s laptop, with integrated Intel (GMA 4500 MHD?) graphics card, and 64-bit Arch Linux. I also have Windows XP installed, so I'll try and report.

|edit| in Windows everything fine :/ |edit|

What about save data and levels? How will redownloading affect those?
Tuesday, 27 April 2010, 10:40

Sure, they'll be gone!
If you want to "try" to save a few bits, grab the following..

JNKPlat_Levels/Available Levels.dat
Files/244/scores.dat

But due to the way I changed half the files, the checksums probably won't line up anymore. Sorry!

CodersRule
How did you convert them when you made the new version, Jay?
Tuesday, 27 April 2010, 14:12
Jayenkai
"half" not all.
I had to flick through checking for RedBlock-on-Plunger block, but didn't keep track of what I'd changed.
Oh, and I changed the checksums, too, so...
Um, yeah.. They're probably all screwed!
Sorry!!

Won't happen again!

If you mean the one titled "THE LADDER NEAR THE EXIT" here's the solution...

(1) Go to the bottom and collect the ball and blow the bomb.

(2) Make your way to the top-left of the level and push the moveable block off the edge, and then push it down the ladder.

(3) Go and grab the key.

(4) Push the block 3 spaces to the right of the ladder.

(5) Stand on the block next to the ladder, jump right and then hold right arrow while somersaulting toward the gate. The gate should now disappear.

(6) Go back to the spring and grab the top rail, then make your way to the far right and drop down.

(7) Do a right jump from where you just landed to collect the last ball, then jump left through the gap and your home.

The "Probably" last edition has been released.
114 ('ish) levels included, and a couple of new tiles to play with..

Re-download, and plonk it happily over the top to keep your scores (from version 2, but not from version 1!)

137 levels, 2 more new tiles.
