I was unable to join the test last night , but I've downloaded it now - however, I am unable to create an account. It gives me an error saying it cannot connect.

Beta test went well, we had about 6 people join. And a website, I'm working on one currently since im weighing out if i have time to develop this further (busy time coming up)

As for unable to join, it's because i took the server offline after testing, i see your login attempts however, shroom.

Quite nice looking, I use to play Infantry Online. I'll help test it whenever the next beta is.

How's next weekend sound for everyone? I found out what crashed the script, and I'm fixing all the little nuances that plagued last test.

See- Valex knows the fury of Infantry

Just to let everyone know, this is a modernization project of INFANTRY ONLINE, back in the hands of the original developers (explained below), and new developers to the project such as myself. I was around in the infancy of Infantry as a Beta tester for Harmless Games, helping them hammer out the basis to the engine you see here today.

This is based off of Subspace, from 1996, if anyone remembers the game. A chap named JeffP began building onto the engine as an open source college project, and teamed together with Jerimy Weeks and a bunch of other people who went on to make such games as Planetside and Everquest II, anyways.. So they build onto it, and people begin to catch wind of an updated subspace, including me. I ask Jerimy through a SubSpace user community, and luckily I got onto the list as a beta tester. So things progress, build, and basically INFANTRY goes from a simple college experiment to a fast-growing online game. By this time, multiple people had their hands on the source, and Jeff and Jerimy step away to pursue other interests. As soon as this happens, one of the developers sells a newly updated version to SONY ONLINE, becoming a staple game for STATION.COM. Immediatly SONY set to work in legal rammifications, and threatening everyone they can to kill off any remains. For a year, They threw an ungodly amount of money onto this behemoth of a project, immediatly seeing dollar signs in the suggesting of their head dev, Cliff Burton, which quickly enacted Pay To Play. The population was decimated, and no one had the source anymore, until a faithful backup was found containing the intact last compile of the HARMLESS GAMES version of Infantry.

At first, Sony came after the revivification project, steaming mad that someone had leaked their source, but when it was clear that it was the lost source they thought no one had anymore, it was clear that they had no legal grounds to attack the project, seeing as how they only owned additions THEY did to the project.

So here it is again! It's gone from an outdated, unsupported heap of messy source tucked away on a disk to a thriving development community actively bringing it up to date to run on modern computers without problems. With our new compile, We've optimized the networking code by strides. Agent could play it without lag, and he was completely opposite to the server on 56k! How about that. It's fallen out of view, and is in need of some serious PR to get the playerbase going again. We have a stable server, and alot of people working on it constantly to make it a unique experience for all.
