I like that everybody has Xmas off. It's nice to have a predetermined 2-weeks when you can actually get around to family visits that aren't rushed because everyone has to get back to work the next day!!
Xmas with family is much more calm and enjoyable than birthdays, wedding anniversaries or other such events.
... And SO much easier to cope with!!

Xmas used to be a nightmare for me, as I work 365. Until last year I had to please both families, without pleasing my own

Working nights pretty much every Christmas always meant I missed most of it, so when I got up it was rushing hither and thither. One set of parents is no longer alive, so that makes things a little less hectic. Makes buying presents a damned sight easier too!!

Being the only Christian in a Hindu-run corner shop, meant I always got Xmas off, because they didn't

Unfortunately, it meant lots of extra shifts whenever big Temple-based events were going on. But meh, whatever!
