TV Avoidance Recommendations

The other day, Netflix recommended this, based on the fact that I watched that timey-wimey, Jeremy-bearimy show, the other day.

"Exciting Time Travel TV Programmes"?
Yes please!!

The show is Taiwanese. I have no issues reading subtitles. Hell I grew up playing graphic text adventures. Subtitles don't scare me in the slightest.
Bring it on!!

.. I gave up at the point displayed in the above screenshot.

The show has a teensy tiny teeny weeny bit of timey-wimey Jeremy-bearimy in it, but not enough to keep me captivated.
Starting with sunspots, and disrupted satellites and things, it seems like it's going to be an exciting time travel adventure!
The guy gets text messages from the future!!

Then .. it peters out.
The show is actually about a bicycle racing group, who have to train up to beat a rival bicycle racing group, and the main guy may or may not fall in love with the unknown woman whose text message he received.

It's a crappy dull love story, not an exciting time travel adventure.
Of course, I might be wrong, and the other 10 or so episodes manages to build up the excitement.. but I got 2.5 episodes in, and just gave up.

Nah.. not for me.

I was recommended to watch a show called Flinch by the wifey last week.

Long story short. It didn't even raise a titter.

Another show just popped to mind.
Outlander
"Time travel mystery in the mountains of Scotland!"

The description makes it sound like Life On Mars. Woman inexplicably finds herself in the past and desperately needs to find a way back home..

.. The actual show is just fucking..

And I do mean fucking.
Lots and lots of "lonely woman at the hands of the scottish tribesmen" fucking.

Basically, if you remember the Highlander TV series, and how it was interesting Sci-Fi/Drama, but with inexplicable sex scenes every other episode.. It's that.

I was encouraged to watch the first episode of Outlander by a work colleague about a year ago. I watched the first episode and left it at that.

Good choice!

I watched all of season one, hoping the "typically American pilot episode has a sex scene" would go away.
It only got worse..
The honeymoon episode was especially "wtf am I watching"!

I couldn't be arsed with season two.

Designated Survivor

The first episode, a mass attack kills pretty much every political figure in the US Government, and the "Designated Survivor" takes his roll as Emergency President.
The show kicks off with "Who did this, why did they do this, we're in an emergency" pacing, and is great.

By episode three, the new president's settled into his roll, the emergency is all but forgotten, and it trudges along like any other shitty political show.

I watched season one of this, and tried to start Season Two, but nothing had changed..
I gave up.

(Just got a notification-email that Season Three is now on Netflix... . No thanks!)
