Quote from the link
The symbol’s squares of color are intended to express the company’s diverse portfolio of products.

Well I always thought it symbolised a window.

Something about the logo looks familiar.
Like it's a rehash of an older version.

Microsoft will go straight down the pipe over time, the people that are now running the show waited for Billy to step down and have removed the ladder as soon as his feet reached the floor. Let's just hope that it doesn't go the same way as Apple with their arse about tit way that developers have to go through and stuff.

It's a bold step. I wonder what was wrong with the old logo (Win 7 stylee)? Trying to remove all trace of the old Microsoft and make it less "Gates"?

I also presume they want it to look similar to the "Metro/whatever it's called" square icon/window/interface thingies.

Whilst it doesn't blow me away, I like it, and I like that Microsoft's designs are more colourful than those of other companies.

Certainly looks better than the Windows 8 logo.

What I said has everything to do with the logo, going backwards instead of forwards with the logo graphics. There was nothing wrong with the Win XP or Win 7 logo, why fix something that's not broken?.

What I meant was, when Gates was CEO the look and feel of the Windows products were a lot better than what is being done now.
