Paramount Plus

28th June 2022

Enjoyed first 3 episodes of Halo. But the rest of Paramount+ is pretty underwhelming right now. Don't think I'll subscribe past the free days and just wait until more content is available.

Return of Degustabox

18th May 2022

Bah humbug me...
I'd rather wander around supermarket grabbing random stuff with my eyes shut than subscribing to overpriced things like this.
Each to their own I guess, but - not for me.

I did a few tentacle/worm things on PMC so maybe they're what you remember. Might be somewhere on archive.org but I honestly cba to check.

COVID Test

8th December 2021

Bizarre in our house. Youngest two kids have to do lateral flow tests (as provided by the school) 3 times a week. Eldest son who is at college does two lateral flows a week and a PCR test (done by spitting in to a bottle - new type).

Windows 11 - Hardware

31st August 2021

My PC is out of date by many years. But it runs everything I throw at it for work and it plays all of the latest games without issue. I have no intention of upgrading it just because of Windoze 11. I understand they want to improve security etc, but nop*snip*

Not tried anything multiplayer as yet. Will have a go tonight and let you know :)

Quake Rerelease

20th August 2021

I've been playing it on the Switch. Is actually really quite nice. A good few modifications to it and you can tweak various settings to your own liking. There's also a whole new expansion for it too.
So far, very pleased with my purchase. I ca*snip*

Flutter/Flame

20th May 2021

It's pretty cool and they've just updated to v2.2 which bolsters support for Web, Desktop and UWP among other things.
Also, Google generally doesn't throw away Frameworks - especially when there's some big named companies using them. Angu*snip*

Flutter/Flame

18th May 2021

Dart is the oddball language of choice behind Flutter but to be honest, it's not half bad. It's ''familiar''. So if you've used any modern languages you'll be comfortable with it very quickly.

I've been busy with Flutter at work and came across 'Flame' game engine for it. Played around for a little while and wow - with this wee little game engine, mobile game development is interesting again.

How to achieve this background terrain effect

12th April 2021

If you own the game then take a look inside to see if you can dig out any assets from it. The images may help you understand what's going on.
Personally, I don't think this is tile based, nor much of a grid at play either. I'd consider certa*snip*

555 Oscillator Circuit.

16th March 2021

Ah, the 555. Bloody useful little thing that is.
I remember at college that we had to build one of these from scratch, using a heap of transistors and resistors. Hardest part was figuring out the best layout in breadboard. Quite fun though :)

Streaming Recommendations

14th March 2021

Have to say, I love Amazon Prime more than Netflix. It's like going into the video shops of old and hiring a load of 10p titles because you didn't have lots of cash for the blockbusters. There's some real gems in there - and there's shitl*snip*

Microprose?

17th November 2020

Microprose - great ''American'' publisher. With a contact-us address in Australia and an e-mail address in the .co.uk domain.
Can't do much other than LOL at that.
Wouldn't trust them with anything I developed. Nope. No. Nadda chance.

Badvent Choices 2020

19th October 2020

I wouldn't bother with that one - it's a bit shit! It's some generic Playmobil bits with additional cardboard to represent a scene from the film. There's barely anything worth the entry price - and definitely no car! :(

Spitting Image on BritBox

Original SI was superb. I really cannot stand this new stuff - there's just no magic to it.
Also, Britbox is great - loving all the old stuff! Just wish it worked on my TV FFS!
