There's a second one sitting there, not sure if I want to test it or not...

Right, current progress, I have the bluetooth working, all buttons presses present and working. I just need to come up with a cheap and SAFE battery solution that doesn't spoil the external look of the controller too much.

Giant SNES-styled battery on the end of a long wire?!

Could you squeeze in a mobile phone battery, maybe?

Probable, but it the charging that's the issue. That's why I chose one of the wii battery packs with the 'charger' built in. Turns out, it was nothing more that a resister and diode combination, which provided almost zero charge protection. Which I assume caused the leaking, that sort of pack is deigned to trickle charge only so providing any more than about 0.5a results in over charging. And I plugged it into my powered usb hub to charge!

Four?!!!????
Surely one would be plenty? Could you add a single battery internally?

need the voltage up above 3.5 at least, I tested with two and got nothing. So, yeah, four it is. I'll keep looking for a cheap safe rechargable solution though. Most wireless controllers use internal battery charging these days, it can't be that expensive...

Didn't the X360 controllers run on 2 x 1.5v? Seems a bit odd that this would need more.

Hmmm..
Guess the Arduino isn't quite as energy efficient as a specifically designed board.

You can get doodads to up the voltage, but i I wanted to do this as cheap as possible.

See, if you'd thought ahead you coulda made this out of an old Jaguar controller. That way you'd be able to fit batteries in easily. Plus a beer fridge.

Upgraded it, got a handful for lipo charger circuits from amazon and used a battery out of a bluetooth speaker that didn't really work properly. So the whole lot is internal now.
