Prime Day's on. Given the current packing-status, I'm not allowed to trawl the site. I did have to buy a semi-temporary under the counter fridge for the new place, though.

Cool, I'm doing my usual avoidance of it, may end up getting something from there for the kids come October time. Depends how it all goes though.

I have spent over $8,000.00 at Amazon over the past two months. I'm good for now, other than a preordered Kindle book that was supposed to come out last month, and had the release pushed into the middle of this month.

Woah, that's more then I have spent at Amazon although the ex was spending ~£300 a month of my money on kindle books for years without my knowledge so...

£300 p/m?! On eBooks?!

I can kinda get spending 8k. MacBook, iPad and iPhone would easily be most of that, and I bought mum an iPad and iPhone, too.. we're well and truly in the ballpark!
... fwiw, my AppleSpending is done over a few years, usually one device a year unless something breaks.
..
But .. £300 on eBooks?!

Yup, every month, for years, i always wandered why we never had any money to do things with our son, or have the cash to put towards anything. I wasn't exactly overjoyed when I found out.

I am an avid reader, but 300 per month for ebooks is a lot, imho. I am biased though, as I do buy some ebooks most months, but nowadays I only buy fiction from indie authors and refuse to buy fiction from a major publisher. Most of what I buy is 99 cents, some of it is up to maybe 6.99. The most I have paid for a fiction book is 9.99 and that is extremely rare. Think maybe one might have been 12.99. But I generally only buy a couple per month. If I stumble on a new author, I may buy the back catalog all at once if it is cheap, otherwise I buy it over a couple of months.

I also swear I have no idea how entire collections from mainstream authors appeared on my Kindle as I never bought them. *cough* Only about three or four of such authors, that found their way there,

That said, I did buy 80+ books over the past two months, I guess mainly last month. I bought them as ebooks, but since they were nonfiction and things I like to hold and study, I also bought the physical books, which I generally never buy a physical book unless it is something old and out of print and not available for the kindle or easily found elsewhere in an eformat. But for nonfiction, depending on the book, a physical book is handy, especially if it is something I will really be studying and taking notes from.

I generally do NOT spend that kind of money on Amazon, or elsewhere, that I have over the past two months, but, starting on some new studies and a new direction in my life, and needed some supplies, for jewelry making, gemstones, etc. Also bought a high end binding machine (something that would last) and binding supplies and enough supplies to do a 100+ books. Some of my study materials I will print and bind for my own use, but will also be developing some course work and will be binding and selling those. Some other kinds of books, as well.

Normal for me, Amazon monthly spending would be any vitamins or medicines I need and maybe a couple of ebooks if the authors I like have something new. Usually $40-$80 per month depending on which vitamins are needed.

A year ago when I first moved here, I did spend some very serious money replacing some gear I had to leave behind in TN as well as a few other things I needed for the studio and some other things like furniture.

I do NOT have a lot of money and generally am pretty thrifty. I manage to pull off being poor, keep from being in debt and maintain a very good, above average credit rating.

Other than this past two months, the last big purchase was my Chromebook and an air conditioner for my studio.

Agreed, time for a new tv. Your colours have def suffered the ravages of time.
Remember when choosing your new one, OLED screens look excellent, but they don't last very long, screen burn ALWAYS happens.

I really like the sewing machine tv stand!

I ordered 2 sturdy storage closets. 40% off.

There's also a dozen or so books coming this week. More music mixing and effects and production workflow and mixing exercises type of things. And a body language book to learn how to read and write with body language.(shakes fist in the air!)

The sewing machine table tv stand has to go

New TV's little feet are so frickin' wide apart, we're having to rearrange things to fit it onto something really wide..

Also, TV arrived this morning. Woot!
Thoughts once it's set up. Lots of farting about, first.

It wasn't a prime deal, but I ordered a Christmas present for Wifey which is below. Only other thing ordered recently from Amazon was an ebook or two and some over the counter medicines.

TV : Amazon FireTV, 4-Series, 43 inch : 4K43N400U
Unit : Saved the sewing table with a bit of wood! Now need to find a more suitable bit of wood, but at least the sewing table's still around.

TV Thoughts.
1. Oh my god, the difference.. I can actually read things from the couch, now!

2. Mum had to sit there watching for about an hour as I installed app after app, and signed into them all, so everything was connected.
"It's not like it used to be, just bring home the TV and plug it in."
Nope, it sure isn't.

3. I have to set up Parental Controls to avoid the VERY easy to use "Buy me a million packets of pringles!" capabilities of Alexa.
Thankfully, I purchased the "It only listens via the remote, and you need to push the button" model. .. I hope.. Unless there's secret microphones in the unit and it's still listening to me!! Aaaargh!!!!

4. The interface itself is a little bit sluggish. Takes about 3 seconds to switch channels, so if you're opting for channel-hopping, it's gonna take you a while!

5. Airplay!?! It didn't mention Airplay..
Unexpected Airplay!
Cool!!! So.. Now I don't need the AppleTV..!?!
Hmmm..

6. The Energy Rating was a G, so we were slightly worried about that, but it's using about half the energy as the old TV, so.. Whoop!!

7. Apps seem to run well enough. I have to dig into the interface to see if it's leaving them running in the background, or if I can kill them...

8. Didn't do well at Optimisationalism 4, I quit it after watching "Plain Text" test take about 5 minutes! Oops... but it can at least play Shoebox games, albeit with a wonky thumbpad based control scheme!!

9. Crisp and clear, and all the colours are visible.

Looks good. If the interface is too slow, you can always get a 4k firestick, but then it's a bit of a waste having the same software built into the TV.

Also, you can get all sorts of stands the screw onto the back of the TV to replace the feet. Some of them look really nice. We got a one for our little TV with it's stupid feet.

I've got the AppleTV (packed away, right now) if I find things too sluggish. But today's testing has shown that we likely won't need it.
I sure as hell ain't typing my Apple credentials into it, though it does indeed have the complete Apple TV app.
I can use Airplay, if I want to do anything like that.
Tried episode 1 of s2 of Quantum Leap New, today, and Mum was gobsmacked at how much more she could see!!

My big Hitachi TV has sturdy metal feet, but I am not using them and I have it hanging on the wall on a $12 wall hanger (that is just as good as the more expensive ones and even has a built in level). My smaller Samsung has shitty plastic feet, but it does fit good on the monitor shelf of this desk.

For both TVs I have a shelf that attaches to the top of the TV to hold the BluRay player and remotes.

Missed it all this year, mainly down to the flu, although I did pick up a couple of bits on ALiexpress including some stocking fillers for like £10, including:

a USB reading light for Triston
2 tamagotchis
A new stylus pen for Layla
A heart shaped mirror for Layla
and
A cute lil cat handbag, again for Layla.

Thanfully I got Tristons main present also this year before the prime event as the monitor in question went up in price during, phew!
