Hit home in a way for me. Until my wife died, and I had to leave most things behind, I had EVERYTHING from 1979 onwards when it came to programming. Back in the day, I always printed hardcopies of code, and saved all graphics, etc. Transferred backups to new storage mediums as they emerged. Not to mention all my development tools (including graphics tools) many of which are not sold anymore. Writing, etc. A lifetime of work -- now gone.

Glad somebody is resurrecting their old project and is determined to push forward. Hoping he gets it finished. Who knows, we may see a release for it on Apple's new Ski Goggles they were showing off.

Yeah, I'm currently in a "Should I keep all these?" scenario.

Only half the Amiga disks have been archived, but none of my Amstrad stuff has.
The Amstrad stuff requires..
A ) Fixing the Amstrad's disk drive
B ) Hoping the disks still work
and
C ) How the hell do I then get the contents over to the Mac?

Once I've archived all that, though, it's plain sailing, and I can probably (with ludicrous numbers of tears streaming down my face) sell both the Amstrad and the Amiga.

With the hard copies of my old source code, I used to scan it and use OCR to convert it to a TXT file.

One piece of source code I wish I still had was a simple inpainting program I had written. Way back when I wrote it in VB, I was not happy with the performance of other things and I needed to get rid of some cigarette butts on the ground in the picture I had taken of a squirrel, My lil program worked quite well. Would be handy now. LOL

In what little I was able to bring, I did find the graphics set a friend of mine made and gave me to use for retro games. Also was able to find a CDs worth of other ones, but I need to convert them all from WMF to PNG. Sadly most batch converters make big-assed PNGs, so I am doing it one by one using MS paint. Not sure what they do different, but the PNGs are always nice and small with MS Paint. Also found lots of glowing reviews for one product I wrote. Really though, that is about it programming wise.

I had Blitz code going back to the original forum on everyone.net. Also had code from the latter forum that disappeared and never made it to the final version of the forum that ran for years, until Mark pulled the plug.

Also lost was the first (and only) draft of a novel I wrote in the 90s. One chapter was actually still on a 5-1/4" floppy.

Also lost many personal photographs. And tons of game artwork. Tens of thousands of "creatively acquired" movies and tv series, audio books and ebooks.

Pretty much only have things from TN (about 8 years ago) until now, albeit very disorganized.

One thing I miss (call me crazy), Is I had a whole CD filled with Warpy Code™. Between the DB & Bliitz communities, that was a lot of code.
