Win2003 R2

Frrreessshhh install!
(This is a continuation of the story Drivers FTL)

Right, so, I had this rig sitting around next to me doing sod all. So, i decided I'd set it up with Windows Server 2003 R2. That way I could play around with Active Directory, IIS, and some other random services within my home environment so that I don't frack up the system where I work.

So, I was attempting to install it and, lo and behold, I needed a 3rd party driver for my SATA controller. I needed one because otherwise the install disk didn't recognize the harddrive and therefore I wouldn't be able to install it on there. So, it was time to go a huntin' for some drivers.

I first go to the ASUS website, and pick up their Promise RAID Drivers, as that was the only drivers they had for any kind of IDE controller, so I figured that the HD was just hooked up via the RAID controller for some reason or another. NOPE! sorry, driver doesn't work.

Then I venture over to the original manufacturer's website (HP) to look for a driver. They had no drivers for any of that. poo.

With more searching, I found the Intel Matrix drivers. I looked up in the technical specs the southbridge I had, and after more fighting with making floppy's that ended up having bad heads, I finally got the driver I needed (yeay!)

Long story short--I've finally set up my server unit! I set up a domain called Hive.local, with the new server being called Daggoth-DC.
