Introduce Yourself

7th September 2019

Hello, I am AndyH and I enjoy making games.

I made games in Ovine for over a decade, mostly remakes but later some phone/tablet games. (Simpsons impression) You may remember me from such games as Imogen, Sky is Falling and Bee in a Bubble.

Today I s<snip>

I wish Petit would hurry up for the UK. Tempted by Fuze but it sounds like it's waiting an update.

Go for it! I enjoyed the experience and always had the urge to write a proper vic game, for same reason.

It’s assembler / Pascal hybrid called Turbo Rascal. Makes it easier but you still need to know about the computer internals.

Even if it might be only you and me reading it, I’ve always wanted a shout out in the newsletter so this would be superb! <snip>

No worries. With these things the nostalgia of the machine itself helps, the Vic was my first computer where I discovered all that magic

Would this be something you could mention in your newsletter this week? Trying to spread the message for other Vi<snip>

I ended with a credits / instruction screen. Looks nice. Out for testing now, but disappointingly despite some people offering to test no one has given me any feedback. Ah well, perhaps the Vic is a little too niche and this is a relatively simple game.

That's a good idea. I've been able to optimise the code a little have have 256 bytes left. SO do I make an instructions page / credits, attempt a simple jingle tune, add more levels or the flashy thing? It's sooooo stressful when you get so <snip>

I'm making (remaking) a game called Nibbler, an interesting early arcade game that I only discovered recently. The remake is on a Vic20 with a 3k RAM expansion.

Video in links of an earlier version this week. I've almost finished it, just some<snip>

Sounds very interesting. I will have to read the above in full after work. My son is learning Japanese as it happens and can read a lot but i think I’ll wait for a uk release to avoid all that set up. So this is capable and fast enough to make reasonable<snip>

Hi, here's mine.

Monkey2 Arrives

Mark loves to bring in modern language features, but I wish he'd focus on his real strengths and keep these languages simple, fast and focus on game features.

I feel Blitz3D was his high point, BlitzMax didn't do it for me at all (I know a lot o<snip>

Poll : Touchpad vs Nub vs Mouse

1st July 2016

I always use a mouse, I have a light compact one. I struggle too much with the track pad and usually disable it to prevent accidentally brushing against it while I type...which I do a lot.

Site Design Tools

13th August 2014

Talking of Frontpage (sorry I'm late), you know it's still alive? It's now tied to Microsoft SharePoint, called sharepoint designer. It's free but still is frontpage to its core and still messes with your html. I'm forced to use it every now and then
