JSE - Optimisationalism 4

25th November 2024

Opera on here return a very similar value to Chrome. I'm not surprised Safari is quicker as no doubt they'll be taking advantage of direct Metal integration.

Was worth a try I guess :)
And this laptop certainly won't be for playing games. Might help to create them from time to time, but mostly for more mundane tasks.
In all honesty, I'm surprised how little I've noticed the upgrade from the M1 Pr*snip*

Paramount Plus

Enjoyed first 3 episodes of Halo. But the rest of Paramount+ is pretty underwhelming right now. Don't think I'll subscribe past the free days and just wait until more content is available.

Bah humbug me...
I'd rather wander around supermarket grabbing random stuff with my eyes shut than subscribing to overpriced things like this.
Each to their own I guess, but - not for me.

COVID Test

8th December 2021

Bizarre in our house. Youngest two kids have to do lateral flow tests (as provided by the school) 3 times a week. Eldest son who is at college does two lateral flows a week and a PCR test (done by spitting in to a bottle - new type).

Dart is the oddball language of choice behind Flutter but to be honest, it's not half bad. It's ''familiar''. So if you've used any modern languages you'll be comfortable with it very quickly.

555 Oscillator Circuit.

16th March 2021

Ah, the 555. Bloody useful little thing that is.
I remember at college that we had to build one of these from scratch, using a heap of transistors and resistors. Hardest part was figuring out the best layout in breadboard. Quite fun though :)
