If you want to create a 3D game what language would you use?

ASM, definitely.

Nah, just kidding. Use the language you prefer, and let's not start another language debate. If you're on a journey to find the perfect language, you might as well give up now, because a perfect language doesn't exist. Stick with what you like, the language that does the job and is fun to code in.

"because a perfect language doesn't exist"
No, but there are languages better than others.

PS: this was not to start a flame, it was just a comment

Well, actually there is not a "language for 3D", as you could use the same libraries with C/C++/Python/Java/c#/..
Actually, languages such as B3D have no future, as they are too limited, and not cross-platform.

Also, you should ask better questions.
This topic should have presented something like: "could you suggest me a 3d engine?"

It depends entirely on how you want the game to look.
.. And, of course, on whether you can pull it off!

My suggestion would be to do a trial run in Blitz 3D, to see if you can handle the world of 3D Game creation.
If you can, and your game needs more than B3d can do, then you can port your code over to one of the many free C Compilers, most of which tend to include simplistic OpenGL engines, nowadays.

abc No, but there are languages better than others

I didn't say anything else. A while back I was wandering around the internet in search of the perfect language, but when I found an interesting language I said "Oh no, this doesn't have X feature!" and I kept on looking. Sometimes you have to cope with the flaws.

Yes, and it also depends on what you need to do with it, but generally a compiler can be better than others for optimization, generation of ligher binaries, speed, performance, ..

Would you rather attempt your first 3D code in a language you're used to, just to get used to 3D?

Or would you rather go hell-for-leather and take the jump to a whole new language, so that you're learning both 3D and New Language, at the same time?

For me, option 2 would probably be something fun to do.
But I'm too lazy for that, so I'll stick with option 1!

Not necessarily Blitz 3D.. Could be whatever his current language of choice is.

Yes, but it seems as his current languages doesn't have 3d libraries by default, and he didn't search for others, so asked here for a complete programming language to do the thing.

@Jay and Phoenix: I played with Blitz 3D for about one year... I think it isn't really powerful... it is easy, really easy, but not powerful... this is my opinion. I want to start a new project. This time I want to finish it . So before starting it I have to decide what language I will use... since I have about 70 years to finish this project I can learn a new language if needed

Well, before deciding 'i will make that game' you should search for the language you are searching for, but this is not accomplished searching on forums. Use google.
Search your documentation and make your thought, without asking on a forum for such things ('which programming language should i use' is not a question someone other than you can answer).
Then, after having learnt *well* that language, coding simpler applications, you might be able to start wanting to code a complete 3d game.

It depend what type of game you making in 3D Game.

Are you making 3D War game?
Are you making RST game?
Are you making RPG game?(It take lots of work!)

Check the link

hope that help ya.

Good luck.

I can't really explain what I am going to do, because my idea is quite original (shhhhh xD). However I think Phoenix is right... I will follow his tip
P.s. Jay, please close this thread. You know why

Well, i don't think think you could have original ideas, usually you copy everything.
Then, it is strange to talk about 3d games and originality in the same sentence, as there were made too many and of too many types it is almost impossible to innovate in this field.

"P.s. Jay, please close this thread. You know why"
Well, i were writing my thoughts, which seem more robust and complete than yours, as you don't point out anything out than 'tell me which language to use'.
However i noticed *you* started answering me badly.

I think you should not provoke me here, in this forum. We already got a red badge. I don't want to start a flame war, I don't even want to argue with you, and, honestly, I don't understand what do you want from me. :\ This is a paceful place, leave it as it is.

Yes, but that is not important, as i argument my ideas.
You were trying to start it, while i just wanted to point out some details, and only in my last post i argued against you to answer your previous posts.

"I don't understand what do you want from me"
Well, it seems more probable that you just "I don't understand", as you perfectly now why i point out (this is allowed on forums) the wrong things you wrote.

"This is a paceful place, leave it as it is."
This is strange, told by you, as for many years you have told everyone you liked war, giving argumentations to support this thought.. for example:
-it keeps the population level low
-i would kill someone other even just if he didn't do what i wanted and there weren't jails.
Among with other racist ideas against Africans.

thank you

everybody,

I would be doing more 3d game progamming
and especially of animations and cut scenes
like my Xeon, Geisha Girl, Anubis, and especially
Wolfie. I was even working on a animation sequence
of John McClane-->Die Hard starring Bruce Willis
Yet and as I told some friends of mine the assembly
bug has bitten me. The 6502 bug.
I'm back into retro app and game programming in 6502 assembly language.

Yet, I plan to slowly get back into 3d programming and my animations with Blitz 3d in a few months. Hopefully and by that time Cobra 3d and/or Nuclear Basic will be out.
