Advent of Creativity 2

1st December 2019

Last year I made a bunch of models in Blender. This year, my medium of choice is... (Linkage). Similarly to last year, I have a little bit of experience in this kind of thing, but not a lot. So let's see how this goes!
For Day 1, here's a simple *snip*

Word of the Week : Wavers

30th November 2019

Decided to use this as an excuse to give ShaderToy a quick whirl (considering using it for Advent of Creativity this year). Here's some fairly uninspired 1am sine waves. ;)

We're not *all* old farts. ;) Although I'm pretty quiet round here these days, so yeah. :P
Welcome aboard Tricky! Nice to meet you. :)

Introduce Yourself

6th September 2019

Hi, I'm James.
I used to code a few little game projects as I was growing up (most of which were entries into Jay's Wednesday Workshops!). Then I got an actual job in the games industry, which ironically leaves me little time / energy for hobby pr*snip*

Taking a Longer Path

23rd March 2019

I'd also vote for brute-forcing it. The requirement for an exact path length makes using any of the usual pathfinding algorithms unhelpful, but the lack of fixed destination writes them out entirely!
With 10 moves your search space should be small eno*snip*

Happy Birthday, Jayenkai

Happy Birthday Jay! :) Have a great day.

28th January 2019

C++ operator precedence is well-defined, not compiler specific. See here: en.cppreference.com. Though Jay's advice is still wise: it is often better for write your code more explicitly even if it's longer, to make sure it does what you want! After *snip*

What Have You Done - 2018

2nd January 2019

Ups
What did you get done in 2018?
[*]Work continued to be fun and productive.
[*]A whole bunch of roleplaying stuff... together with my girlfriend we ran an online forum-based freeform RPG for three months for a few dozen friends, which was well receiv*snip*

Advent of Creativity - 2018

24th December 2018

Day 24: It's Christmas Eve, so here's a chimney ready and waiting for Santa to visit. :)

Well, this has been a fun creative adventure, and a nice excuse to learn a new skill. :) Thanks for putting this on Jay!
Is that one large texture, with opened areas, or is each one its own little texture!?
I UV-unwrapped the whole mesh so it's one large texture. That's what ended up taking most of the time, because I decided I wanted to try *snip*

Advent of Creativity - 2018

22nd December 2018

Thanks Jay. Everything is a mess of half-unpacked stuff and half-re-assembled furniture right now, but perhaps there shall be a picture or two once things are more assembled. ;)
Day 22: As we near the end of our advent of creativity, here's an advent *snip*

Advent of Creativity - 2018

21st December 2018

Those are some lovely creatures Jay. :) I do enjoy the various things your sprite generator can now make.
We've now moved all our stuff over, and I've found a spare half an hour to throw something together. But then it took me a while to figure ou*snip*

Sadly nothing from me tonight, as I've been doing allllll the furniture moving that didn't happen on Sunday due to illness. About to take the last van load now! Hopefully regular service will resume tomorrow.

Advent of Creativity - 2018

18th December 2018

I definitely feel you there rychan. There's never enough time in a day!
I've only had about 20 minutes spare today, so I tried to figure out how to make my bauble look more reflective. After a bit of fiddling with the Blender Cycles material setup*snip*

Advent of Creativity - 2018

Day 17: A very quickly put together bauble. I was hoping to have time to figure out how to make it all shiny and reflective in the Cycles renderer, but alas ran out of time. Perhaps that's tomorrow's task!

Advent of Creativity - 2018

16th December 2018

Today, I was meant to be pushed for time because I was supposed to be moving furniture to my new place. Instead, I spent most of the day being rather sick, and was pushed for time because of that instead! :(

Advent of Creativity - 2018

Cycles is the name of Blender's photorealistic rendering engine. AFAICT it uses raytracing, physically based rendering, etc in order to achieve a more realistic render than the default, simple renderer. Though I've not actually investigated it in d*snip*
