I personally don't do it by hour. If I do it for pay (it depends on project/mood/who's asking, sometimes I do it pro bono), I look over the script and give a figure. I think the most I've charged is $50 US. I know a few that charge by line.

I think you mates are undervaluing the work that goes into these things. It's highly specialized and requires schooling on top of innate talent to be any good... and yet they still make less than the average movie extra.

$200-ish an hour is a normal rate for higher-end professionals, but keep in mind that sometimes an actor might get like... 3-5 hours of work a month if they aren't in a recurring part in an animated series or something.
