Some Apple fan did a rebuttal, but the best he could come up with was the MiniPad does more languages and is sold in more countries. Since the Kindle is mainly sold in the US, I don't think anyone gives a twit about moar languages.

I've not used the kindle fire HD, but looking at the specs, it's really not as good as the ipad 3. Lower resolution, smaller screen, only a tad more powerful (and software is what really makes the difference). That's also looking at the top end kindle fire, which isn't listed on the UK Amazon (US only???), and is priced similar to the ipad 3. The standard kindle fire HD, which is on UK Amazon, has a resolution almost half that of ipad (1280x800 is not what I would consider HD).

This stuff is important because it's not all about x vs y features. 99% of what I use my ipad for you could do with any other tablet. The difference all comes down to build quality, both with the hardware, and software too.

It really doesn't look that great, especially not for UK customers. There are better android tablets out there.

I'd say battery life has a big part to play as well as build quality if other features are the same.

and conversely features have a big impact on battery life, as does usage.

If you turn off location features on the iPad, it can really improve the battery life.

The Kindle isn't what I'd call a high-spec tablet, so I wouldn't expect it to measure up to the "New iPad" (iPad 3).

The comparison on Amazon was to the iPad Mini, though - and at slightly over half the price the Kindle trounces those specs.
