A unique variation of Breakout

Poing! PC is an award-winning freeware game that puts an innovative twist on the tried and tested style of Breakout. Destroying bricks will not necessarily help since they will keep coming back... instead, the aim is to break a path to the back wall of each level and smash the wall until it fades away, allowing you to progress through to the next level.

As an added twist, if you lose the ball after progressing through several levels, you won't lose a life immediately. The ball will plummet back through the levels you've beaten until you either catch it or it goes past the first level of the set.

Fortunately there's a wide variety of powerups to help you along the way, including the Bat Autopilot, Forcefield and Promote. Poing! PC also keeps track of your games and compiles a whole list of lifetime statistics along with the per-levelset and all-time hiscore tables - and if you get tired of the included levels, you can make your own with the included level editor!

Latest Update

Final freeware version 1.0.1b
Sadly the source code of the game is lost due to a hard drive crash Any bugs you encounter are probably unfixable. Still, I'll gladly to try and offer advice or workarounds if I can...

Yeay!
What a cracking game.
Used to play the original to death on the Amiga. Probably killed about 4 mouses between this, Megaball and Cannon Fodder. (Lost count of the joysticks lost to Deluxe Galaga)
The remake loses only one thing. The randomly generated music, and I know how hard that is to get working in Blitz! Believe me, I've tried! It usually ends up sounding awful.

But yeah, great game. Gotta love that Ball Spin thing you added.

Thumbs up.

Very nice

Look like quite a lot of work must have gone into this.

The game is just genius, and it sets the bar for all other breakout clones to beat. Just to point it out: I love how you can put spin on the ball, it's brilliant.

Thanks for the kind comments. Glad you all enjoy the game and that it doesn't break too often for you
