Socoder -> Question of the Day -> QOTD : Gameplay vs Working!

This week I'm working on a nice little Guitar Chord program, whereby you insert notes into a nice little gridded area, and then as you strum your Guitar Hero/Rockband guitar, those notes play.
Nice and simple.
Allows you to load/save different chord structures, and all works very very nicely.

I've still got plenty more work to do on it, but FFS, I can't stop pissing about with the damn thing!

QOTD : What's the worst case of "Can't code, too busy playing it!" that you've had?

When I was working on my WoW emulator in C#, I was hooked on WoW and kept playing it all the time. Obviously I did get some programming done too, because I made it all the way to the Realm Selection screen, but I ultimately gave up because of all the insane and constant protocol changes introduced by Blizzard in every patch.

I've had quite a few issues of 'cant code, too busy playing it' games. My first was Matrix3D, if any of you happen to remember, it was a 3D version of minesweeper. I also made this multiplayer version of snakes, called CobrasChallenge, that although was ment to be played online, I would frequently just play by myself, trying to see how far I could get. And nope, I never did finish CobrasChallenge!

The projects where I've disliked how unproductive I was have always been these kinds of projects where I've spent much of my time using/playing it. However after they are complete they then become my favourites.

To a degree this is also a good thing to do as many games require large amounts of tweaking to get right. Playing them a lot helps with this.
